EDWARD B LINDSEY was born in N.C.in 1797 oldset son of JOHN LINDSEY came to Stewart Co ,TN. before 1810 m RACHEL MURPHY before 1820 and was in range 9 section 7 (crooked Creek Area) of BENTON CO ,TN. in 1920 occupancy deeded the Farm where the Cementary is in 1827 with 3 children, RACHEL died in March 11,1830 in child birth of 4th child note: (this is the Oldest proven grave site in Benton Co.TN.)This became the EDWARD LINDSEY Family Cementary With 10 known graves + other unknown graves.EDWARD then married LIVICA RUMLEY and they had 8 children for a total of 12 children Fathered by EDWARD. > About 15 years ago the Cementary was in very bad condition with briers, bushes, and weeds, and the owner removed the Tombstones so he could bush hog the area (this with permition of some descendants who were not thinking ) and the stones were piled up by a Large OAK tree.making it impossable to identify the arangement of the people buried there. > We have their names b & d dates from the stones (some of which are broken) so > it was decided we would Erect a Memorial stone in memory of those buried there > from donations of those in the family who cared. > This has been done and the date above is the planed Dedication date. we are now excepting donations to keep it mowed so this will not happen again. > If you would like to help Call 901-584-3827 or 901-593-33398 or E-mail gabbie@aeneas.net or if you know any one descended from this man please give them a copy af this letter or call us at the no's above. thank you in advance gabby . >
