    1. [TNBENTON] John Jackson
    2. Mary Russell
    3. I am still wanting any information on my GGGrandpa JOHN JACKSON. In the book " Tennessee Cousins" in the section dealing with Benton County. There are two or three references to John. "CHARLES SU??RATT, JOHN JACKSON and JOHN B. CARMES located near the present site of CAMDEN. " and '"CAMDEN, the County seat was located on a tract of land where JOHN JACKSON had "squatted" who otherwise had no title. They made a trade with him for forty acres to build the town on, and in return for his consent, deeded him two or three lots of his own land located in the town. " This brings to mind two questions. In the first reference I am wondering if any of you on the list do Surratt Genealogy and or Carmes. I am grasping at straws trying to find the maiden name of JOHN JACKSON's wife ELIZABETH ? Many men marry neighbor girls. <G> Second. Could I find any record of these deeds made to John Jackson for the lots in town when Camden was formed. Where would they be? I need proof that this JOHN JACKSON is mine. The one that is mine was a son of ABLE JACKSON of Humphreys County. I think there was another John Jackson in town who was a Mormon and who sold his land and left the area. Mary Harkey Russell bird@scrtc.com
