He married Frances Uphamey "Famey" Cannon. She was born Sept. 12, 1788 and died Mar. 11, 1855. She is buried in the Garrett Cemetery. She was the daughter of Minos and Letitia ? Cannon and sister to Newton Cannon. Her first husband was Samual Gentry b. abt. 1777, and they had several children. More on Famey Cannon Gentry Cheatham According to the Rover Hist. Vol. I, "They lived on Mars Hill where Eagleville is now located on Gentry Branch. Famey Gentry Cheatham's Dower left by her 1st husband Samuel Gentry I included land and the mansion house. Thomas and Famey Gentry Cheatham lived on Famey's dower until they moved near Rover. Thomas Cheatham bought land on Wilson Creek in the 10th district of Bedford County TN Jan. 20, 1834 from Isaac Phillips. Thomas and Gamey Gentry Cheatham moved to the 10th district of Bedford County TN in 1834." Also from the Rover Book: "Famey Cannon Gentry was the daughter of Minos Cannon and Letitia Thompson. Minos Cannon was a Revolutionary Soldier, born 1756 in Maryland. He died 10 May, 1839 at his home in Williamson County Tennessee near Kirkland, Tennessee. Letitia Thompson Cannon born 1754 in Guilford Co. North Carolina and died 11 Jan. 1832 in Williamson County, Tennessee. Letitia Thompson Cannon was the daughter of Robert Thompson and Letitia Hazard. It is believed this is the Robert Thompson who was the first man killed in the Revolutionary War. He was shot in the back by Governor William Tryon of North Carolina or one of the Governors staff. Famey Cannon Gentry was the sister of Governor Newton Cannon of Tennessee. Newton Cannon became the first Whig Governor of the State an office he held from 1835 until 1839."
