    1. [TNBEDFOR] Henry Gambill was RE: Need transcript of Thomas Cheatham will - c. 1858

    3. Can't say for sure, since I don't have him, but Bradley died in 1806, so I doubt his grandson was born in 1765. I am currently working on getting Bradley's data cleaned up enough to get online. I will let you know when it's ready. The John Nash who bough Francis's Swift Creek property in Henrico/Chesterfield Co. in 1734 was Sheriff at the time. Did Bradley Gambill (I assume "Gambrell" is another version of this name) have a son or grandson named Henry Gambill/Gambrell born about 1765 who went to Hanover County area? We have a Henry Gambrill in White County who's wife was Abby Maynard. Couple of Henry's kids married into family of William B. Rice, Francis's grandson in White County, TN. There are also a LOT of the Nash family in Putnam County and White County. My 5th great-grandaunt, Molly Rice, married a Cheatham, most likely in Amelia or Prince Edward County, and possibly Charlotte County between 1760-1770. Her father was Francis Rice, who patented land on Swift Creek in Dale Parish, Henrico/Chesterfield County, VA in 1731. He sold this land in two transactions: In 1732 to John Grissell and then in 1734 to John Nash, and moved to Amelia County by 1740. I do know Joel Cheatham was in that area, and I strongly suspect Molly married into his family in some fashion. I believe the William Rice in Maury County, born c. 1770-1773 may be the same William who married Pheobe Ellis in 1790's Chesterfield County, with Joel Cheatham as surety. What I find interesting is that Permelia Cheatham's son by John William Gillespie, William Cheatham Gillespie, married into the Puckett family in Rutherford County TN in 1857. This is the same Puckett family descended from Molly Rice Cheatham's sister, Elizabeth Rice Puckett, wife of Robert Puckett of Charlotte County, Virginia. Thanks, Will Teresa Elliott wrote: Sorry, my Thomas is much further back than this. If you find they are from Dale Parish, Chesterfield County, VA, let me know. I don't have very much on the Cheatham family and nothing to tie them in with the Rice family, but I can add just a bit to Thomas Thomas Cheatham was born Dec. 22, 1792 and died 1857. He married Frances Uphamey "Famey" Cannon. She was born Sept. 12, 1788 and died Mar. 11, 1855. She is buried in the Garrett Cemetery. She was the daughter of Minos and Letitia ? Cannon and sister to Newton Cannon. Her first husband was Samual Gentry b. abt. 1777, and they had several children. More on Famey Cannon Gentry Cheatham According to the Rover Hist. Vol. I, "They lived on Mars Hill where Eagleville is now located on Gentry Branch. Famey Gentry Cheatham's Dower left by her 1st husband Samuel Gentry I included land and the mansion house. Thomas and Famey Gentry Cheatham lived on Famey's dower until they moved near Rover. Thomas Cheatham bought land on Wilson Creek in the 10th district of Bedford County TN Jan. 20, 1834 from Isaac Phillips. Thomas and Gamey Gentry Cheatham moved to the 10th district of Bedford County TN in 1834." Also from the Rover Book: "Famey Cannon Gentry was the daughter of Minos Cannon and Letitia Thompson. Minos Cannon was a Revolutionary Soldier, born 1756 in Maryland. He died 10 May, 1839 at his home in Williamson County Tennessee near Kirkland, Tennessee. Letitia Thompson Cannon born 1754 in Guilford Co. North Carolina and died 11 Jan. 1832 in Williamson County, Tennessee. Letitia Thompson Cannon was the daughter of Robert Thompson and Letitia Hazard. It is believed this is the Robert Thompson who was the first man killed in the Revolutionary War. He was shot in the back by Governor William Tryon of North Carolina or one of the Governors staff. Famey Cannon Gentry was the sister of Governor Newton Cannon of Tennessee. Newton Cannon became the first Whig Governor of the State an office he held from 1835 until 1839." Step children of Thomas Cheatham: "Sina Gentry married Richard T. Long Letitia Gentry married Wiley Perry Minos Gentry died young John R. Gentry married Elvira Adams Elizabeth Gentry married James A. Gregory Nancy Gentry married Darrington Garrett Samuel Gentry II married Mary Anne Bailey Arline ----- Original Message ----- From: "W. D.
