    3. Have you been to Bedford County before, doing research? It is a great area to do genealogy research in. I have been coming here for 30 years now and loved it so much I relocated here and opened a business. We have a Best Western hotel and a Super 8 I believe it is. There are some Bed and Breakfasts and also some independently owned hotels available but the Best Western is the nicest of course and has a good breakfast included in their rate. They do offer the typical discount rates when available. Be sure to contact them ASAP as they do book up since they are so nice. I own the GROCERY STORE ON THE SQUARE in "Uptown Shelbyville" directly across the street from our beautiful courthouse. If you are needing any deed or marriage records they are quite helpful here in Bedford County. Also, we have an archive area in the courthouse vault that contains very old papers and they are only open on WEDNESDAY mornings, 8 AM - 12 Noon. Our Shelbyville / Bedford County library has a GREAT genealogy area and lots of records have been documented in books, many of which they have. Not knowing the time frame you are looking for or what other info you may want to research, I can't tell you what would be available but would be happy to check on things for you if you need some pre-trip assistance. Our library is open late Tues, Wed and Thur (I think that's the nights) until 8 PM - closing at 5 PM other nights and also open on Sat. As the previous reply stated, we have a huge Tennessee Walking Horse Show called CELEBRATION that is the end of August - the 1st few days of Sept so if you can come after that the availability of rooms would be greater. Also, we have a very nice State Park close by if you are an RVer. Please feel free to contact me at W.R.L. Market 112 Public Square East Shelbyville, TN 37160 or by phone at 931 685-0055. Best wishes in your search, look forward to the possibility of meeting you.
