Back on April 6th I announced that we were setting up a web site for collaborative research on the family of John Theophilus Thompson. That site has been up and running for about a month now and there are 12 or so participants. I wanted to describe the data we are posting and offer anyone that wants to a chance to participate. It will take several more months to get a full set of information posted. 1. With the permission of the surviving author of the book John Theophilus Thompson, Some Ancestors and Descendants in Frederick County, Maryland, Orange County, North Carolina and Bedford County, Tennessee by Mary LeBrecht and Elizabeth Schack, we have posted the entire contents of the book as a set of PDF files. 2. We have created document libraries to hold census index data as well as digital images of the following classes of records: court records, deeds, second district surveys, tax lists, and census. 3. Initially we are focusing on the period 1807 - 1840 in Bedford County, TN and looking at the following "associated" families: - descendants of John Theophilus Thompson - Thomson/Thompson (descendants of Rev David Thomson who died in 1773 in Duplin County, NC) - Trott - Trollinger - Trice - Anderson 4. We have started abstracting all of the early Bedford County, TN Thompson deeds, tax list data, and court records as well as Trott, Trollinger, Trice, and Anderson records. As we abstract, we are posting digital images of key records and linking those to the abstracts. 5. We have basic family group information on some of the above posted but could use help from Trott, Trollinger, Trice, and Anderson researchers in adding additional information. Trott The site is not public and requires a username and password to access. This is because of the damage that someone with ill intent could do using the site (for example, distributing illicit material or sending spam through it).
