I have been trying to find the roots of my Turners for years and finally, FINALLY, got a lead that led me out of Jefferson/Washington Counties in IL to a circuitous path through TN: Davidson- Gibson- Marshall- Bedford counties. I knew that my grandfather was born in and came to IL from Davidson Co., TN, but .well, I'm sure you all know about those walls.(you should see my SMITH line). I was amazed at the number of Turners I found there; a goodly few of them were my line. I got back to John Thomas TURNER, my ggrandfather to John William TURNER, my grandfather (sure were a lot of Johns in TN those days!), and a host of siblings/descendants.
