They are recorded in 1880 on the Bedford Co census. The household consists of Samp. 55 (VA VA VA), Martha 19 (wife) Maggie 3, Lee (female) 1, and Sallie 16 (dau). I believe Sallie to be Sampson's daughter by a previous marriage. The one year old daughter named Lee is my grandmother, Addie Lee Thomas. I think that this may be the same Sampson Thomas recorded in previous Bedford county census records who had a daughter named Sallie. However, there are discrepancies that cast doubt It is recorded in family records that Sampson D. Thomas died 2 January 1896. Recorded just below his name is Addie Lee Claxton and her death date 24 Aug 1909. . Martha Virginia Watkins preferred to be called Jenny. In records she is found as Martha V., Martha J, Virginia, M.J., and Jenny. After Sampson died she was married 2nd to Frank Murley, 3rd to Louis Massey, and 4th to John Lokey.
