I will be going back next Wednesday. Does anyone want me to look in the Chancery Court Minutes book and see if there is any documentation on their ancestors? Send me your ancestors name, and I will do my best to see if they are in this ledger. Later, Marty ______________________________ ------------------------------ X-Message: #2 Date: Thu, 12 Dec 2002 07:59:39 -0600 From: "Cindy Robertson" <cndpooh@cox.net> To: TNBEDFOR-L@rootsweb.com Message-ID: <000701c2a1e6$b6ef95e0$427c6644@ks.ok.cox.net> Subject: Re: [TNBEDFOR] Chancery Court Books Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Yes, I would like to get a copy of what I have lost somewhere along the trail of discovery. I read about my Great Grt Grt Grandfather and his sister being under the guardianship of their uncle, John Mayfield, and he petitioned the court to sell their slaves since they were minors. It was about 1848 - 1852. Their names were George Smith and his sister Martha, children of John Smith. The uncle, their mother's brother I believe, was John Mayfield I think. Your help with this would be wonderful as I read it once and can not find it in any of my records now. Thanks for the offer, Cindy Stephenson Robertson ______________________________ ------------------------------ X-Message: #3 Date: Thu, 12 Dec 2002 09:21:34 EST From: GeneoLady@aol.com To: TNBEDFOR-L@rootsweb.com Message-ID: <104.21d1e6a0.2b29f56e@aol.com> Subject: Re: [TNBEDFOR] Chancery Court Books Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Index for any NEILL, please and thank you. ______________________________ ------------------------------ X-Message: #4 Date: Thu, 12 Dec 2002 08:33:20 -0600 From: "Debi" <debip@bellsouth.net> To: TNBEDFOR-L@rootsweb.com Message-ID: <001501c2a1eb$6bcd7a50$11ee4cd8@VAIO> Subject: Re: [TNBEDFOR] Chancery Court Books Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Hi Marty, Anything at all on Elijah Williams or Isaac Williams. I'm not sure about George Clayton Neill, whether he is still there or in Marshall Co. at these dates. A George C. may indicate either George CLAYTON or George CATHEY Neill. I'm most anxious to find a land deed between James Neill and his son George Clayton Neill to establish the relationship. None found yet. Or between George Clayton Neill and one of his brothers which would establish the realtionship to James Neill. Thank you. ______________________________ ------------------------------ X-Message: #6 Date: Thu, 12 Dec 2002 10:56:51 -0600 From: Bob Battaglia <bobbatt@texas.net> To: TNBEDFOR-L@rootsweb.com Message-Id: <5.1.0.14.0.20021212105029.00bcf9b8@texas.net> Subject: Re: [TNBEDFOR] Chancery Court Books Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"; format=flowed At 04:55 AM 12/12/2002 -0500, you wrote: >Yesterday while at the Bedford County Archives I looked at the Chancery Court >Book - Aug 1830 to Dec 1842. Her father was Simon Peter Vess and her mother was Susan Wilhoite. The mother died 13 days after the baby was born, which was in 1852. By the time the 1870 census is taken the daughter is married. Is there an 1860 census available? Was she living with a Wilhoite family? I know that she was still in Bedford County. Her father remarried and he and his new wife, Fanny Joyner in 1870 and they had three more children. Any information would be appreciated. Mary Pat in AR P.S. Her grandparents were Lewis Willis Wilhoite and Frances Moore Christmas and they lived on Flat Creek. I have been working on this a long time. -----Original Message----- From: Bob Battaglia [mailto:bobbatt@texas.net] Sent: Thursday, December 12, 2002 10:57 AM To: TNBEDFOR-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [TNBEDFOR] Chancery Court Books At 04:55 AM 12/12/2002 -0500, you wrote: >Yesterday while at the Bedford County Archives I looked at the Chancery >Court Book - Aug 1830 to Dec 1842.
