I had an ancestor who committed a double murder in Shelbyville and was sentenced to prison. Although this happened much later (1911) than yours, I found some help by contacting the newspaper in Shelbyville. I don't know if it is the same paper as the one in 1862, but they might have the old records or copies of issues (if they were publishing during the War of Northern Aggression):) I contacted them at: news@t-g.com This is the link to the Shelbyville Times-Gazette News Departament. Good luck. -----Original Message----- From: larealia@msn.com [mailto:larealia@msn.com] Sent: Sunday, May 05, 2002 8:33 PM To: TNBEDFOR-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [TNBEDFOR] John Richardson execution sentence There has been so much activity on this Bedford list this past week. I so eagerly look at everything on it hoping to find some response to my recent question concerning the sentence to hang John Richardson of Richmond in 1862. I am sure some of you on the list know a lot about Bedford records, and it seems to me that such a subject would be interesting to someone other than me. So won't someone please think a minute to see if you have an idea how I should go about finding more about this man? I live in middle Ga., and I will be happy to come up there if I can just figure out what I need to be hunting. Thanks, LarealiaGet more from the Web.
