There is a William Ferguson on the 1812 tax list who is not on the 1820 census. He is in James Yell's company, which places him in the NE quadrant of the county. I cannot recognize Mary Ferguson's neighbors in the 1820 census to tell where she is and besides the 1820 census is notoriously out of geographical order, so those listed before and after her might not be her neighbors at all. Please tell me where I can see a copy of the petition you mentioned. Some of those in Yell's company are known to have lived right on the Rutherford County border.
