    1. Re: [TNBEDFOR] Districts in Bedford Co
    2. Hi, The 1878 Beers map shows Flat Creek in Dist 23. The town of Flat Creek is just BARELY in Dist 23. In fact on my map it looks like they made a Point so Flat Creek would be in Dist 23. Normandy is Dist 25. Mari had someone scan the 1876 Beers map of Rutherford County and it is on line. We could ask her how it was done. She also listed all the businesses that are on the right hand side of the map. I can take a pic of my map. I think the district numbers will show up.. But the towns are written to small. Distict 1 is Beech Grove and also includes the Northern part of Fairfield District 2 is Wartrace, Haley (The split is the rail road tracks) and Southern Fairfield District 3 is to the East of the Rail Road tracts, and still Wartrace.. it also has part of the West side of Shelbyville District 4 is Bell Buckle and includes Liberty Pike to the Rutherford County Line District 5 is Deason and adjoins Rutherford County to the North. District 6 is about 3 mile North of Shelbyville and runs to almost Bell Buckle (Webb Hwy). It also picks up part of Midland Road in the middle, and goes to Old Nashville Hwy. It also has Sulphur Springs Road District 7 is Shelbyville District 8 is Fall Creek District 9 is Center Grove.. (which I assume is now College Grove?) District 10 is Rover (Which adjoins Dist 10 in Rutherford County) District 11 is Unionville There was not a dist 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 on this map District 18 is Palmetto (also includes Sims Bridge.. and Fishing ford Pike and Borders Coffee County. District 19 is the East side of Richmond and the North West of Branchville? and borders Lincoln County District 20 is Pleasant Grove District 21 is to the East of Shelbyville District 22 is the very Southern tip of Bedford County and has Hawthorne P.O District 23 is the South of Shelbyville and also includes the Town of Flat Creek District 24 is the Southern half of Flat Creek and runs to Moore County District 25 is Normandy P.O. and Borders Coffee County Other interesting facts. Bedford County was established Dec 7, 1807 out of Rutherford County. First explorers were the Alexander Greer Party in 1783 Shelbyville the county seat was established in 1810. I remember reading about where everyone met, but cannot recall off the top of my head Later, Marty
