This is what I call desperate! Please see if you recognize any of the names below. In an attempt to identify ANYONE who may have traveled with my JORDAN family from GA to TN about 1810ish, I have searched through the 1850 Bedford Co, TN, census looking for individuals who were born in SC or GA in the early 1800s. So far, I've only searched Dist 18, which is where my JORDANs settled, however, I intend to search the entire census. I want to emphasize that the film was difficult to read and some of this transcription my be inaccurate. Also, I discovered later that the page numbers recorded from my FTM CD do not coincide with the actual census page numbers. In addition, I have inserted a space between individuals who are not of the same household but on the same page. If you recognize anyone, please tell me when they came to TN, if possible. Also, please let me know if you think I may have a name recorded inaccurately. Thank you for your help. Hi Sandra, Sophia Stephenson was Sophia Harber (Houber). The Harbers (Jacob was the head of the family) came to Dist. 18 of Bedford about 1810. Jacob died in 1814. They were from the Barnwell District of SC. Most of the Harber family lived in the portion of Bedford Dist. 18 that became part of Dist 7 of Marshall Co. when Marshall was formed in 1832. So you might look at this district as well to determine those who might have come from SC or GA about 1810.
