    3. My great great grandmother died 13 days after the birth of Susan C. Vess in 1853 (Oct/Sept.) . I was reading Susan Craig Vess (Speier's obit in the Nashville paper -1918) It mentions that she spent her young life in the Wartrace area before moving to Nashville in 1884/85. Her father, Simon Peter Vess married Frances Joyner. I would appreciate if someone would be able to check the 1860 census or any other records to see with whom she was living. Her father was a saddler. She married Alexander Speier around 1869 and they made their home in Wartrace until they moved to Nashville. I believe that they owned a general store where liquor was sold. I think that she was a Methodist. She prayed that her husband would quit selling liquor and it wasn't long after that the store burned to the ground. Maybe that was when they moved to Nashville and opened a general store there. Any and all help would be appreciated. Susan's grandparents were Lewis and Frances Wilhoite of Flat Creek.
