    1. [TNBEDFOR] BLEDSOE FAMILY
    2. List Members, The BLEDSOE family is a family that straddles the county line and it is very much linked to the Chestnut Ridge area. I will post from what Joanna Bledsoe sent me hard copy of prior to her death and then open up a query at the end of the post. It would be my belief that I may be a descendant of Jacob BLEDSOE born ca. 1762/64 - 1848 Jacob was born in Wake Co., NC, March 29, 1762 (or 1764). His will was filed in the Bedford County, Tennessee Courthouse in 1848, but the will is missing because the courthouse burned down. He lived in wake County, then came to Tennessee between 1820 and 1830, settling near Petersburg, Tennessee. According to the 1810 census of North Carolina, he had twelve children living at home. Also he may have had other children later on. In May 1793 he was granted 640 acres of land in Sumner County, Tennessee for his father's service in the Revolutionary War. He probably sold the land..(need to check the deed records of Sumner Co.). In 1834 he filed a pension request for his own service in the Revolution saying that he served in the Captain Lewis Bledsoe Company, Colonel Moore's Regiment and was present at the Battle of Gates' defeat in August 1789 in Camden South Carolina. He said he was often confused with his cousin Jacob nicknamed Jacob Jr.,... who was the son of his father's broth! er Jaco b Sr. Our Jacob is buried in Moore Chapel Cemetery, Shelbyville, Tennessee (also called Blue Stocking Hollow Cemetery). but the marker no longer exist. He died without a will, so far as the twelve children listed in the 1810 census, we only no for sure: AARON b. 1781 or 1787, NC DAVID b. 1799, NC (he married a sister of his brother , Aaron's wife) HENRY b. circa 1804 (married Tempe Robards) LEWIS b. 1770-1780, (married Fanny ______) My questions are, (1) does anyone know anything about the ROBARDS family or is there a possibility that this is the ROBERTS family that was in the area and inter married with many families of the area? (2) Does anyone have any information on a daughter of Henry BLEDSOE and Tempe ROBARDS named Lousia F. BLEDSOE born around 1837. (3) Is there a possibility that her name is Lousia Frances BLEDSOE and would she be the wife of James MOORE buried in Moore Chapel Cemetery? My great grandmother was Tempie Ann MOORE that married John R. FOSTER of the area and this would be my connection. Thanks for your time. Bobby Prosser prossergenealogy@comcast.net
