    3. Shirley, Thanks for the tip. In addition to my g-grandpa working for the RR for many years, my grandpa, was killed as a result of a RR accident in 1928. The accident itself did not kill him. The injury he received to his right arm became infected and he died of blood poisoning or gang green. They did not have antibiotics in those days. Thanks for your help. I WAS WANTING TO SEE IF SHE RECEIVED A PENSION AS THE WIDOW OF A BRAKEMAN KILLED IN A DERAILMENT. I ALSO NEED TO ENLIGHTEN YOU ABOUT THE R. R. MUSEUM IN SPRINGFIELD. THEY USED TO HAVE ON THEIR SITE AND I HAVEN'T CHECKED IN A COUPLE OF YEARS, THAT THEY WOULD RESEARCH WHAT THEY HAVE THERE. THEY WANT MONEY IN ADVANCE. DON'T SEND THEM ANY AS YOU WILL NEVER GET IT BACK AND THE R. R. MUSEUM WAS CLOSED DUE TO NOT ENOUGH VOLUNTEER HELP. I TALKED TO 3 PEOPLE THAT HAD SENT MONEY FOR COPIES OF RECORDS AND THEY NEVER GOT ANYTHING AND THEY DIDN'T GET THEIR MONEY BACK. His name was Zephaniah Polk Weaver. In about 1875 he went to work for the Rail Road, and probably there in Bedford County. He would have been about 16 years old at the time. I believe he became a Road Construction Engineer and may have worked for the Rail Road from about 1875 up to about 1920. My question is this; does anyone in Bedford, or anywhere else for that matter, have information on the Rail Road and/or its employees covering any part of the period from about 1875 to about 1920? Second question; Where can I find searchable Rail Road Pension Records and/or other employee records that might help me prove this? 3. Don, I also tried dealing with the Rail Road Co. itself & after all the offices closed and two or more of the rail roads merged into one and they destroyed records at that point. My husbands family worked for the Frisco here in Enid, OK. His gr. Uncle died in a derailment near Sand Springs, OK. in 1926. The R.R. Board also told me that Widows did not receive pensions/settlements in those early years. After the board was established and records kept then something was done to help widows and minor children. 3. Shirley, I'm with you on the RR. No one can deal with them. But there's a lot of good people out there with records and information willing to help, like your self. Thank you. I'm sure something will turn up and I will find my lost g-grandpa.
