I was talking with a cousin that has been researching Bedford Co for many decades, I asked her this question her answer was that during and after the Civil War sympathizers for the Confederates in this area moved to AR and to TX. Parts of Tx have many roots still to Bedford Co. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Linda Coop" <lac47@bellsouth.net> To: <TNBEDFOR-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, August 25, 2002 4:00 PM Subject: Re: [TNBEDFOR] Bedford County families in Arkansas > I used to wonder about that, too. I have family (mostly Hamil) and they had allied family and associates who were in Bedford Co., TN in 1820. My family moved west to Haywood Co., TN before moving to East Texas in 1838. So there were probably friends and relatives in Texas and Arkansas.
