Anderson in the Bradley Gambill book and here is some of what I found. James H. Gambill, son of Bradley Gambill, was named in his father's will. He married 9 Feb 1803 in Davidson County to Esther Bidwell. In 1816 he was living in Williamson Co, TN and by 1820 he had removed to Wayne County, TN. Goodspeed's History of Wayne County, page 764, lists James H. Gambill and Timothy Gambill as some of the first settlers. Timothy Gambill may have been a son of James. There is no further information on James in the book. However, there is Sarah Gambill (born 14 June 1815) who is the daughter of Benjamin Gambill, also a son of Bradley Gambill. She married a Mr. Yarborough. Another daughter was Eliza Jane Gambill (born 25 Sept 1823), declared by the court of Bedford County to be insane. She made her home with her sister, Permelia Gambill Anderson, in Marshall County. Permelia Gambill (born 1 Nov 1808) married Amzi Anderson. So, it appears there is are connections between Gambills and Andersons I also looked for the name James C. Anderson that you asked about. I found a James C. Anderson that married a Susan Nance 1 Dec 1847 in Bedford County. Susan Nance was the daughter of Ann Gambill (born 24 Dec 1796 Davidson County TN, died 28 Dec 1836 Bedford County TN), daughter of Bradley Gambill. Ann Gambill married John Nance (born 4 Mar 1798 TN, died 7 Feb 1873 Bedford County TN) John Nance was the son of Bird Nance and Polly Hannah. Bird Nance was a friend of Bradley Gambill and a witness to his will. So, that is probably where your Bird name comes from. Under the information for Susan Nance it says that she was born 16 Sept 1822 TN, died 26 Jane 1880 Craighead Co, AR. James Campbell Anderson (born 12 Dec 1824 Bedford Co, TN, died 15 Feb 1906 Craighead Co, AR) was the son of Richard Anderson and Margaret Campbell. Susan and her husband moved to Craighead Co with the Gambill brothers in 1858. Richard Anderson was a captain in the Civil War. James C also served as a lieutenant. I hope this information helps you sort out your particular Sarah Ann Gambill. She may be a daughter of James H. Gambill and a good place to look would be either Williamson or Wayne County.
