Muse, born ca 1820 in Bedford County, TN. His parents were Rev. John Tyler Muse (1791-1850) and Rachel Hartsfield. Rev. John Tyler Muse was the pastor at Missionary Baptist Church in Bedford County. James H. Muse was living in Branchville in Bedford County during the 1880's. Several of his sons moved to Obion County during the 1880's. I am trying to find when James H. Muse died and where he was buried. I am also interested in finding a history of Missionary Baptist Church if possible. Any help, suggestions will be appreciated. I am also interested in the history of the Missionary Baptist Church and the history of the split with the Separate or Primitive Baptists. The James H. Muse that you inquired about is part of our Muse family. Information on him is limited; supposedly born between 1816 and 1819 and died after 1880; and is probably buried in Bedford Cty. As noted, he was a son of Rev John Tyler Muse and Rachel Hartsfield. They were married on July 16, 1813 in Wake Co., NC. In 1817 they moved to Bedford Co., TN, and was pastor of a church on Sugar Creek. When Friendship Church (now Bethel Church) was formed he became pastor until his death. (His tombstone was recently located by me and uncle Jack Muse near the old Muse property.) John T. had three other brothers, namely Jesse, Thomas J., and Jason who moved with him from N.C. to Tennessee. They were direct descendants of James Muse, III; James Muse Jr., James Muse Sr., Thomas Sr., and John Sr. (which is as far back as we have been able to trace the family) I am descended from one of the brothers of Rev. John T. Muse, named Jason Sr. (or Jacent Muse). One of his sons was also named John Muse, who has proven to be quite elusive except for the record of his marriage to Eve Shofner. He was a widower with two sons at that time. One of his sons was Timothy Newton Muse, who is my Confederate ancestor on my father's side. He is buried with his wife Harriet in Oakwood Cemetery in Tullahoma. I have no knowledge of the Missionary Church - unless that was the one located on Sugar Creek. Hope this helps. ----- Original Message ----- From: <gc-gateway@rootsweb.com> To: <TNBEDFOR-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, October 06, 2007 3:07 AM Subject: [TNBEDFOR] James H.
