    3. Linda, Orange County NC has one of those wonderful websites that makes you wish all your ancestors had been there! I found this list of people on this part of that website: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/nc/orange/orangemisc.htm And, yes, I understand that to mean dead letters in the post office. And that suggests to me that he was no longer in the county. Whether other counties have such a list, I don't know. I can't recall seeing one any place else. Hope this helps a little.
