Hi Teresa, I am suprised you didn't find more typo's. I will go back and send you the obit on the Ghee as soon as I find it. You didn't include the date of the Shelbyville Gazette and the page number. I need to pull the obit on the Stem because they are in my tree too. If you would like I will send you the 1946 which I finished this morning at 5 o'clock and you can proof read it before I send it on to Steve to put on line. I am a long way from perfect and can't really type, I just "peck" at it <grin> I have the Shelbyville Gazette on micro film 1928 - 1955 and if Anyone wants a complete obit you have but to ask....However, I am not perfect and you may have to correct some typo's. In 1946 the Shelbyville Gazette went to a 2 paper a week... there is a Sunday edition and a Thursday edition. These papers are full of history. I get so excited reading of times past for instance; (This clipping is my grandmother, my aunts and a couple of my cousins and they went to visit my uncle) Shelbyville Gazette - Dec 5, 1946 - Section 2 - Page 2 Bell Buckle News Mrs. Walter Samuel Lloyd and son, Jan, Mrs. Crockett Smotherman, Mrs. Raymond Rose and her daughter, Barbara Jane, went to Murfreesboro Saturday to visit Mr and Mrs. Richard Smotherman and family. David Kwapinski has recently moved to his farm near Lake Bedford. John William, son of Mr. Calvin Williams, will live with him. Parents; Mrs. Bill Ghee. Grandparents; Mr. and Mrs. W. O. Davis and Mr and Mrs. Will Ghee. Great grandparents; Mr. and Mrs. Wills Davis and Mrs. Eliza Lamb. Buried in Family Cemetery in Holts Corner. Died in Lewisburg. I think that should be Parents; Mr. and Mrs. Bill Ghee. Uncle Bill did not die until 1993. I know this, because he and aunt Audeline were one of my favorites Aunt and Uncles. If you are like me, you want to keep this for a while, so I thought I would share what I learned on a Genealogy Guys podcast about saving Emails or Websites if you wanted to save them to your hard drive. With the email open, click File>PRINT and then print it with your PDF printer. If you don't have one, there are several online for free you can use. This will print it to a file for you to use again. I thought that was such a cool idea and now to be able to save these for later dates onto my harddrive is just wonderful. After I transcribed the obits I decided to do the death certificates from micro film. There are more obits than death certificates, and not ALL Death Certificates have obits. Some were very hard to read; However this is just another tool. 1st line - name 2nd line - date of death 3rd line - year (all 1945) 4th line - death certificate number (IF I could read it) Later, Marty Ashby, Mattie (Mrs) Jun 9, 1945 17781 Adcock, Robt. We have just finished indexing: Bedford County, Tennessee Chancery Court Records Volume 1, Part 3, 1840-1848 Charles Reeves has posted this index to the Bedford County TN GenWeb site at: http://www.tngenweb.org/bedford/Chancery_minutes/CHC_V1_P3_index.htm We have indexed locations in this one also since many of the records describe where a family lived before they came to Bedford County as well as where the went after leaving Bedford County. Several records of estate settlements and wills are in this volume as attachments to a court records, and we have indexed these. As you know, the separate wills and settlements record books from this period are lost. Finally, many of these records describe events from 1820 and earlier even though the court records are from 1840 -1848. All of the posted court record indices may be accessed from this page: http://www.tngenweb.org/bedford/court.htm We are now working on indexing Chancery Court Enrollment Dockets, Volume B, July 1848 - Feb. 1851 as well as finishing up proofreading of County Court Minutes, Vol B, 1866 - 1869. Steve
Marty Mendez has abstracted the 1944 and 1945 Obituaries from the Shelbyville Gazette. I have created html pages from her abstracts and Charles Reeves has posted them on the Bedford County TNGenWeb pages. You can access them at: http://www.tngenweb.org/bedford/Obituaries/Obituary_Index.htm

He married (for the 2nd time, I think) Almira Fowler and had several daughters with her. In looking at census records, I found a Robert Scott on the 1870 Census of Fentress Co., TN; a Robert Scott with no spouse on the 1880 Census of Fentress Co TN., and on the 1900 Census of Clinton County, Kentucky. I am not sure if the Robert Scott's that I have found are one and the same, but I do know that the Robert Scott on the 1900 Census is the one that I am a descendant of.... This is a set of three volumes compiled and published by Banks McLaurin. You might be able to find out more about it one the Bledsoe list; I believe that's where I first heard about it. We have been working on indexing this volume for about a month and are still at least several weeks away from completing the work. It is hard work since the ink is faded in places and some of the handwriting is little more that a "scribble". There is so much useful data in this volume that I wanted to go ahead and make what we have indexed so far available for use by researchers. I have posted a "work in progress" draft to: http://www.gscassociates.com/CNC-5-index-snapshot.htm Transcription of the index is complete almost to the end of the "T's" in the index. Proofreading and expansion is complete almost through the end of the "D's". Little "condensation" of entries to create a single line for each name has been done. The table has been sorted on name and then page. This is a MS Word "filtered html" file has still not been cleaned up to strip all the garbage tags that Ms Word adds (even in a "filtered" file), so the file is over 10 times as large as actually required. This snapshot will be updated every few days until we finish and publish the final index. Steve
