Thanks for the extra information! William and Cynthia are my ggg...grandparents. I didnt know he had a brother that died here in Nashville. But, there were ultimately 3 Newcombs. If you (Terrie) go to Heritage Quest and do a search for Theophilus Thompson in the publications, the Bedford County Historical Society published an eleven page paper about the family and it explains a little more about the various Newcombs. If I am reading it correctly, Terrie's Newcomb is the grandson of Theophilus. I hope I am not confusing anyone..I had to read it several times to get it straight myself. Anyways, you can order a copy through Heritage Quest, for anyone interested. Thanks for the gread info, William! Regina Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. My grandfather who is still living but memory isn't the greatest because he is 87 years old told me that his father was Jabus Swanson Nowlin I, and he had two brothers but he didn't know their names and he didn't know who his grandparents were either. He did say that his father was named after an uncle or maybe a great uncle Dr. Jabus Swanson Nowlin. I have searched just on the internet trying to find a Thomas or John T Nowlin and have found nothing at all but 1 census from 1900. I agree with other Moore researchers that Jacob's father, John Henry Moore, probably emigrated from Ireland around 1795. So what was his name? John Tillman, or John Thomas? I have a record of him somewhere being referred to as "Tom" although I can't find it right now... 3. I am still working on the Moore excel file. It has grown a lot. I can send you an update if you want it. It will show you where I stand on your Moore family. I am still trying to find my Moore family. I can't seem to find the right John Moore. Any help is always appreciated. Robert L. Nowlin's parents were John Thomas (or Thomas John) Nowlin and Margaret E. Moore. Margaret's father Jacob Washington Moore was my g-g-grandfather. I am working on a theory that Tom Nowlin's parents were James Nowlin and Elizabeth Tillman. A Thomas Nowlin born about 1835-1838 is in Bedford County censuses in 1850 and 1870 with his mother Elizabeth. I think James Nowlin was a son of Brian/Bryan Ward Nowlin. That would make your Jabus S. Nowlin a cousin of the Dr. Jabus S. Nowlin, instead of his nephew. Just a theory right now-- still working on it... Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. I am a Henry BIBB (1780-1872) descendant. Henry was son of James BIBB (1747 VA-1809 TN) and Sarah NOWLIN. One of Henry's brothers was Rev James BIBB who married Sarah ALFORD. Another of Henry's brothers was Bryant Ward BIBB which leads me to ask if this is the NOWLIN family you are researching. Is it ? Thanks, Molly ----- Original Message ----- From: <gc-gateway@rootsweb.com> To: <TNBEDFOR-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, March 10, 2008 12:12 PM Subject: Re: [TNBEDFOR] John Washington Nowlin Death Certificate 1880-1946 > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Author: suzannemk1 > Surnames: Nowlin, Moore > Classification: queries > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.tennessee.counties.bedford/1389.2.2/mb.ashx > > Message Board Post: > > John W. and Jabus S.
