    3. I, too, owe a big debt to Anne because of her help with my Hix and Parks lines. The phone book has an address and phone number for H. L. Noblitt (her husband's initials) in Tullahoma. Contact me if no one else answers your question. I don't know if she still lives. 3. Hi, all,For those related to Fannie Hix Gammill and Elizabeth Catherine Parkes Hix, and interested in quilts, Ann Gammill Noblitt, a member of the Tennessee Chapter of the DAR, has given a couple of pictures of quilts, one made by Elizabeth Catherine. Because it's a limited preview, the quilt made by Elizabeth Catherine is the one I think is totally blocked out, but Interlibrary Loan could possible retrieve the book. If you click on the book link from Google search, it takes you right to the page. Information below: When googling "Benjamin Franklin Hix" I found this book in Google Books: *Heritage in Quilts*. **ISBN:1563115735 Cheers, Loraine Allrelated -- "As is the generation of leaves, so is that of humanity. The wind scatters the leaves on the ground, but the live timber burgeons with leaves again in the season of spring returning. So one generation of men will grow while another dies." Iliad, VI.146-150, trans. Lattimore. So, tell me again, why the heck am I raking up all these leaves?

Seeking parents, earlier ancestors of 4x greatgrandparents: James GAMMILL (Gamel,Gambill,Gambell) (30 Sep 1797,TN-22 Apr 1874, Buck Prairie Twp, Lawrence Co., MO) and wife Sarah LNU (27 Nov 1799, NC-1 Aug 1885, Lawrence Co., MO). James Gammill lived in Bedford Co. from early 1800s until moving to Buck Prairie Township, Missouri cir. 1848; possibly he was born there. There are several James Gammills, but spouses or children don't fit. I hope someone reading this will have some concrete information on my earlier GAMMILLs. The only marriage reference for James GAMMILL that might fit was a James Gammill to Sally WHITES, 22 Oct 1818, but in Davidson County. There were WHITES in Bedford Co., too. Their first child was born Aug 1819, which would fit. Also, there is an Andrew GAMMILL who married Jane WHITIS, but I don't know if he is related. Does anyone have information that would confirm that Sarah was actually "Sally" WHITES? Or any other ideas about her maiden name and parents? The children of James and Sarah GAMMILL were all born in Bedford Co.: Elizabeth A., Charles Newton (my 3x ggf), Nancy Caroline, Lucinda J., Sarah Evaline, Talitha A., Harriet Meddline, Samuel Harrison, and Joseph J. They all moved en masse to Buck Prairie Township, Lawrence Co., Missouri in the late 1840s. Other Bedford residents whose ancestors I am researching: 4xggf Daniel L. 1. [TNBEDFOR] Research into the family of John Theophilus Thompson
    2. Steve Carson
    3. Back on April 6th I announced that we were setting up a web site for collaborative research on the family of John Theophilus Thompson. That site has been up and running for about a month now and there are 12 or so participants. I wanted to describe the data we are posting and offer anyone that wants to a chance to participate. It will take several more months to get a full set of information posted. 1. With the permission of the surviving author of the book John Theophilus Thompson, Some Ancestors and Descendants in Frederick County, Maryland, Orange County, North Carolina and Bedford County, Tennessee by Mary LeBrecht and Elizabeth Schack, we have posted the entire contents of the book as a set of PDF files. 2. We have created document libraries to hold census index data as well as digital images of the following classes of records: court records, deeds, second district surveys, tax lists, and census. 3. Initially we are focusing on the period 1807 - 1840 in Bedford County, TN and looking at the following "associated" families: - descendants of John Theophilus Thompson - Thomson/Thompson (descendants of Rev David Thomson who died in 1773 in Duplin County, NC) - Trott - Trollinger - Trice - Anderson 4. We have started abstracting all of the early Bedford County, TN Thompson deeds, tax list data, and court records as well as Trott, Trollinger, Trice, and Anderson records. As we abstract, we are posting digital images of key records and linking those to the abstracts. 5. We have basic family group information on some of the above posted but could use help from Trott, Trollinger, Trice, and Anderson researchers in adding additional information. Here is a top-level list of what we have posted: - The family of Theophilus Thompson (ca 1755 - 1828) and Mary Newcome (abt 1778 - ?) The family of Joseph Thompson (1782 - 1824) m. Elizabeth Thompson The family of Nancy Thompson (ca 1784 - ?) m. Kenneth Anderson The family of Samuel Thompson (1784 -1860) m. Nancy Trice The family of Richard Thompson (ca 1788 - ?) The family of Newcomb Thompson (1792 - 1869) m. Amy Fisher - The family of David Thompson (? - 1773) - The family of Joseph Trice (ca 1755 - 1802) and Ellender Comb - The family of John Thompson (the shoemaker) (ca 1805 - bef 1860) - The family of Jane "Jenny" Thompson married George W. Trott The site is not public and requires a username and password to access. This is because of the damage that someone with ill intent could do using the site (for example, distributing illicit material or sending spam through it). Anyone interested in this research is welcome to participate. Please e-mail me directly and request access and I will give you the web address and assign you a username and password. Steve Carson
