If Joe E. Davis that submitted the Rev. War Pension File for John Rainey is on this list, or if anyone knows how to contact him, please e-mail me. His e-mail address used to be je.davis@mindspring.com, but this bounces now. Thanks, Kay Linn kaynlinn@aol.com
The Ancestry.com Census Images for 1830 Bedford Co. do not indicate any breakdown of areas by Dist. There were 262 images for the Co. and each image is one side of a page in the census book so that means there were about 131 pages for the county. I found A Goodspeeds History of Bedford County on the internet (I think on the Bedford Co. site) and it mentions many names by location in the county and you might find the one you are looking for or one of the others on that page listed and determine from that where your ancestor lived in the county.

I realize there are alot of Perry Families and I really don't have much to go on, but I'm hoping someone recognizes these names. I've posted before (last year) and received "no bites"...I'm hoping someone new is on the list and will be able to help. The Perry Family...I think is originally out of North Carolina, possible Chatam County. Two sisters married the same Tillman man, Samuel Taylor Tillman and moved to Tennessee. The oldest sister (not sure when born) died around 1822...Since Samuel was about 22 in 1822, I'm assuming his wife would have been around the same age. Her name was "Martha, Patsey or Clara PERRY. Her sisters name was Mary. Her sister married Samuel approximately in 1825 and died in the 1880's in Greene County, MO. I would really love to find this PERRY family. There could be another sister named "Belitha" or something like that. Sound familiar to anyone?? Thanks :) Pam Tillman-Goff

I have just spent several hours compiling an index to the Wheel book that was printed several years ago. It is a very indepth index as went through and listed every name, first and last. There are over 3,000 listings including names of places mentioned in the book. If you have this book you know how valuable this index can be when looking for information in it. I have spent hours looking for an article I remembered reading about a family member because I would get lost in the book and begin reading things instead of looking for what I went there after. Anyway, I will be happy to copy this index and send it out for the cost of the copies and postage. It is over 60 pages to copy and mail so I figure $7.50 should cover it. If you are interested in a copy please email me directly at: cndpooh@kscable.com Thanks and I hope this will help some of you.

Thanks, you're too nice! 1. I DO want to be on the list. 2. I live near the Denver Public Library so probably could get the book on interlibrary loan, I guess. I used to live near the Midcontinent Library in Independence, MO, and spent a good deal of time there but somehow missed this book. 3. My families of interest were not really in Bedford County that long, I believe. However, it's a hole I very much want to fill in. The names are Anglin, Foster, and Brown. They are in adjoining households in the 1830 census of Bedford. The person of particular interest is Nathaniel G. Brown; his father John Brown may also have lived for a time in Bedford, and may indeed have died there. Nathaniel G. Brown's mother was a Gist, and the Browns and Gists were Franklinites from East Tennessee. There is also a Dolly Burnett in the mix somewhere--she deeded Nathaniel her property in 1835 and referred to him as her nephew. In the 1836 tax list, Nathaniel G. Brown had 300 acres on the Duck River. The polling place for that district was at the home of Pearcy Yell; the Yells and Gists were related. Before 1840, Nathaniel and family, with some of the Anglin and Foster relations, moved out to Missouri. Some sank deep roots and others moved on, scattering our ancestors from coast to coast. Our purpose is to have fun, get acquainted, and swap genealogical information. The above is a list of the families which we know for sure had ties in early East Tennessee and the ones we have some information on. However, ALL surnames are welcome to attend whether your name is listed here or not! There will be a wealth of information to share. Plan on attending please! We Do Need A Head Count though as to NOT overbook the Park. (Numbers of persons coming that is what needed). We would love to have volunteers for some of the surnames on the list to act as co-hosts/co-hostesses to greet and help people with their surname, to be made to feel welcome and to help them meet researchers working on the same surnames. We want everyone to have fun, feel welcomed, and enjoy themselves. **That's What Tennessee Stands For: THE VOLUNTEER STATE ** "Where pride walks and the flag flies!"** We know that we have some college instructors attending who perhaps can be persuaded to speak about history/genealogy. We also have experts and accredited genealogist who have been researching for 30 plus years. They are ready to share their information with us. ---------------------- Attendance is FREE . . . but we will have a "donation" jar to offset the cost for using the campground, tableware, entertainment, and clean up. ---------------------- PLEASE PLAN ON ATTENDING AND BRING: 1. First and foremost yourselves... 2. ALL BOOKS, BIBLES, PICTURES, FAMILY SHEETS, AND INFORMATION YOU HAVE AVAILABLE... 3. A covered dish to share. As far as we knew, it had never been attempted before. It was a resounding success for a first attempt, and it was agreed that it should become an annual event. This area is so very rich in history, both as an Indian frontier and as an isolated jewel of Union sympathy during the Civil War. It also served as a departure point for westward movement and new settlement. Our ancestors left us a rich heritage, which we are striving to preserve and pass on to our children and grandchildren. This rich tapestry of ideals and values is what made us a great nation and what made each of us what we are today. And it began with our earliest immigrant ancestors who came here to start a new life and a new country. COME and SHARE that heritage with us on July 13-14. We are looking forward to making many new friends!! Sincerely, Terri Brown Jurca: <cousinshomecoming@yahoogroups.com>, 5509 Paula Rd., Knoxville, Tn 37912 Carl Coffman: <cousinshomecoming@yahoogroups.com> 1448 S. Hadley St. Wichita, Kansas 67213 and co-hosted by many more friends and cousins, both locally and via internet -- too numerous to name individually, but all of whom we thank for all their help. //// PLEASE REPLY BRIEFLY TO ONE OF ABOVE ADDRESSES IF YOU PLAN TO ATTEND SO WE CAN KEEP A HEADCOUNT. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT SO THAT WE CAN BE PREPARED FOR THE CORRECT NUMBER AND TO TRY TO ASSIST YOU IN FINDING ACCOMMODATIONS. Thank you.//// _________________________________________________________________ Join the worlds largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com

When I noticed that Linebaugh Public Library in Murfreesboro was not on your list, I took mine down and they were glad to accept it. It is now in the research section of the library. Surnames: WILLIAMS, BRYANT, CLAYBORN, RICE/RASH, MOUNT Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/IhB.2ACI/38.70.1 Message Board Post: In Response to D Poff: My Charles H[arbin] WILLIAMS (b. 13 Jul 1872) and his brother, William (b. 13 Aug 1854), are the sons of James Jackson Williams and Sophronia Jane BRYANT. By the time of their births, the family had moved from Bedford County TN to Jefferson County IL. Moses Williams (probably born abt. 1800) was their grandfather. Your family appears to date before mine. However, in my research I noticed that generations have gotten mixed and parentage confused between James Jackson Williams and his father, Moses Williams. Moses' son, James Jackson Williams, had at least 12 children, some of which I've found listed as belonging to Moses. If you would like to compare line-for-line, I will be happy to help.
