    3. Cyndi, This book was borrowed through inter-library loan from the Middle Tennesse State Library in Murfreesboro. It is named "Flat Creek It's Land and it's People." Compiled and written by Ennis Wallace, Sr.; Jo Ann Petty; Margarie Redmond; and Martha Ann Hazelwood. Woodward and Stinson Printing Co. 1015 South Main St. Columbia TN. Copyright 1986. There are several pictures. Mccall's and decendents; lot of Wallace's and Hazelwood's. Here is a short quote from the book: "Early in the 1800's, the Featherstone family came from Virginia to Flat Creek in Williamson County, Tennessee. James B. Hazelwood, born in 1836, lived with the Feathstones and married their daughter,Tillie." Most Libraries won't loan genealogy books. I'm enjoying this one til the end of March. I have no idea if there are any in print now. Thanks to all who responded to my query. Peace. Barb in FL ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! 2. Hi William: Be happy to add your Bedford Co. surnames to the list. Don't be surprised if it takes 2 weeks or so before they show. But, please, do check back to the site to ensure I got all your names, that I typed everything correctly and that your email address is correct and working. Thanks for your interest, Lucy (P.S. And it is "Pinkereton"?)

    3. Until Marshall County was created on 7 April 1836, a portion of that "other" Flat Creek was in the far NW corner of Bedford County. You see some early Bedford County TN deeds that talk about "Flat Creek, a North Branch of Duck River" to distinguish that creek from "Flat Creek, a South Branch of Duck River". In some early deeds, the Flat Creek that is in present day Bedford County is also called "Big Flat Creek" to distinguish it from nearby "Little Flat Creek". Bedford lost land to Rutherford to "accommodate local residents" on 10 January 1844 (NE of Rover), 11 March 1850, 3 December 1867 (W of Midland) and several other later times. I don't have a full copy of the legislative acts that made these changes so I don't know off hand all the locations that were involved. --------------------------------------------------------- Steve Carson http://www.gscassociates.com/SteveCarson/ GSC Associates http://www.gscassociates.com/ 5272 Redman Road phone:+1-505-521-7399; fax:+1-505-521-9321 Las Cruces, NM 88011 USA e-mail: carson@gscassociates.com ---------------------------------------------------------

    1. Re: [TNBEDFOR] Flat Creek
    2. There is a Flat Creek community in Bedford Co and another, different, Flat Creek community in Williamson Co, TN, as some other people have already said. According to deeds, some people who were living in Bedford Co about 1812 had previously lived in the same place, but been in Williamson County (I have seen reference to the names Byler and Lamb--there were others). The Williamson Co line joined the Bedford Co line about 1/4 of the northern boundary until the people in the Eagleville area got mad at Williamson Co because the county would not build them a farm-to-market road, Rutherford Co built the road and a large area became Rutherford, so that Bedford and Williamson no longer have a common boundary. I cannot remember the date when that happened. About 1850 comes to mind, but might be incorrect. Williamson was formed in 1799 from Davidson. Wilson was formed in 1799 from Sumner, which was formed in 1786 from Davidson Co. So they all have their roots in Davidson County, and the portion of Bedford that was formed from Rutherford was possibly part of or close by to that portion taken from Williamson to form Rutherford.
