Thanks for the info on Benjamin D. Kelly would you mind sharing any other info you might have on this Kelly family. You have been a great help. Do you know where Benjamin was born? That would help me. Thanks. Becky
Reuben Kelley had a son named Benjamin D. Kelley. According to material sent me by a cousin in Illinois, Benjamin D. was born in 1811, married Nancy, and died Jan 1, 1862 in Perry Co, Illinois. Nelson Kelley is believed to be the father of Reuben Kelley (1763-1815), William Kelley who married Martha Garrett b 1778 (daughter of Edward Garrett of Laurens Co, SC), John Kelley, Millie Kelley who married Pleasant Sullivan and perhaps Thomas Kelley who was in Laurens Co, SC in 1790. Since Nelson and Elizabeth were married in 1751, I think they may have had a lot more children. But I cannot prove a single child for them. They were in Bedford Co, TN by April 1809 when they were among the founders of New Hope Baptist Church at Fairfield, TN. It seems to me that Reuben was witness on a deed from the Garrett Family to the local Baptist Church (Duncan's Creek?) in 1805 in Laurens Co. Please tell me your line. Is there anybody on the list who has information on the early Warners? They lived in the section of Bedford that became Marshall Co.. Richard Warner's sister, Pheraba, was born about 1792 and married Rowland Rice of Maury Co. in 1809 or 1810. They had two children, Ebenezer and Sally Rice. When Rowland died in the War of 1812 (actually died in November of 1814 in the Creek War at the tail end of the War of 1812), the grandfather (also named Ebenezer Rice) took the two young children. Pheraba was apparently left to fend for herself. She obtained a small pension based on Rowland's death in the war and later married Joseph Abel in 1833 in Limestone Co., AL. I have been unable to find any trace of the two children after they left their grandfather's care. Young Ebenezer left his grandfather's house without permission. He had been "bound" to his grandfather, but had left, according to Old Ebenezer's will, "upwards of two years before he became twenty-one." I haven't found any record of a marriage for Sally -- although that (or dying) would be the most logical way for her to fade from genealogical sight. Old Ebenezer died in Oct. 1831 in Maury Co., and his sons and daughters migrated into southern Illinois. I have not found young Ebenezer in Illinois either. If anybody can shed any light on this family, I really would appreciate any help. Thanks. Shirley

Donna, We expect the book to be delivered by the first of November. This depends on our finishing the sponsored pages and schools in the next week or so, but I think that is going to happen. It has taken much longer than we expected, but it is going to be a great book. Hello List, My Bedford County Resource site is in transition and may not be available at the link Carolyn gave in her message. This transition is due to changes GeoCities made in their web sites. Please go to http://www.angelfire.com/tn3/classof52/bedford/index.html to see information about the Bedford County Family History Book that is now in progress. There are two links at the top of that page. One takes you to a printable order form and the other takes you to a list of the stories in the book. Hello Lucy, I didn't enter my family information to the book, I am still researching my family, I do have some information on these families: Bird/Byrd, Boone, Coleman, Floyd, Howard, Norman, Stephen, Watson & Whitmore. My great great grandparents were Joshua C. Coleman b. 1823 and Sarah Ann Byrd b. 1826, [ I have no information about their parents or siblings, their names are from their marriage cert. 1840] his second wife was Jane Floyd widow of John Bearden. My family was in the 23rd district of Bedford Co at Flat Creek, in this area of TN, several decades, my family moved to TX in 1873. I have wondered why such a large group moved to Tarrent Co. Kathryn, thank you for the time you spent. I appreciate it very much. This is the first account I've been able to find that reported John's death to be 1846. Strange. He did not move to Arkansas when the rest of the family did, and many accounts report him to have died in April, 1818, the same year his father died. The book "Soldiers of the Revolution in Bedford County TN" by helen c. and Timothy R. Marsh states that John McKisick wast the 4th child of 9 born to Daniel and Jane Wilson McKisick. He was born in 1784 and died in 1846. If this is true, he would have been about 52 years old. I checked the Bedford County cemetery book but John is not listed. The "Soldiers" book states that Daniel McKisick was born 1755, died November 19, 1818 in Bedford County. He had a grave marker but the cemtery has been long destroyed. The cemetery was on the Old Coggins Farm, south of Shelbyville. Kathryn <snip> looking for info on a John McKisick, son of Daniel and Jane Wilson McKisick and brother to James McKisick.
