    2. AM
    3. Well Folks, I am looking for information about a cousin of Jesse Coleman and any information about any of his children. I am a great great granddaughter of Joshua C. Coleman b. 1823 we think TN, 1840 he married a Sarah A. Byrd b. 1826, we think she was born in Bedford CO TN but as usual with my family there is no written proof just a thousand and 1 descendents looking for them. Well she died 1850, don't know why or how, are where she was buried. Well he wasted no time he upped and married the widow on the farm next to his, Jane Floyd b. 1818 widow of John Bearden d. 1850 well between his and Sarah's 4 and Jane and John's 4 and the 7? Joshua and Jane had I have "met" 1 cousin from one of their children other than my great grandfather William S. Coleman b. 1848 we know he was born on the farm in the 23rd district and he married Sarah A. Boone, a niece of his step mother. William and Sarah and alot of the Boone families moved to TX 1873. I know the Civil war and Court house fires damaged alot of records. Joshua [Jack] and Jane stayed in TN and died in the latter part of the 1800's decade. I was told they were buried in the Pisgah Cemetery in Bedford CO. Maybe there is still information about their deaths or the deaths of many of their children. Any help is welcome. I am on year 5 of this brickwall of Joshua C. [J. C. & Jack] and his 1st wife Sarah Ann [ Sallie] Bird/Byrd. 1. [TNBEDFOR] Free Civil War genealogy workshop, May 25, Clarksville, Tennessee
    2. East Tennessee Historical Society
    3. Participants will learn how to determine if an ancestor served in the Civil War and how to locate records for both Confederate and Union veterans. Participants do not need Tennessee ancestors to participate since the information will be useful to researchers regardless of their ancestor’s home state. Why is the East Tennessee Historical Society bringing free genealogy programs to Middle Tennessee? The classes are a celebration and introduction to a new statewide initiative sponsored by ETHS to track down descendants of Civil War soldiers who lived, fought, or died in the Volunteer State. The new heritage program, “Civil War Families of Tennessee,” celebrates the unique role of individuals in Tennessee’s Civil War story. The workshop is co-sponsored locally by the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library. For additional information about the free workshop contact the CMCPL at 931-648-8826 or contact ETHS at 865-215-8824. The East Tennessee Historical Society, founded in 1834, is one of the oldest cultural institutions in the state of Tennessee. ETHS, a non-profit organization headquartered in Knoxville, is dedicated to preserving, interpreting, and promoting the history of the region. The society’s activities and exhibits are made possible through the support of its membership. For additional information about the genealogy workshops, membership, or other ETHS programs, call 865-215-8824, or visit the historical society’s web site at www.east-tennessee-history.org

    3. Hi Larealia, I took a look in the Marsh's court record books and did not find an entry for your request below. Also, I was at the library this weekend and looked in the following Shelbyville papers, but unfortunately, had no luck. The Reveille, 4-DEC-1862 The Tri-Weekly News, 19-Jun-1862 and 21-Jun-1862 Daily Rebel Banner, 4-Apr-1863 The microfilm is not a complete collection and only includes newpapers that could be found. We are very lucky to have a few papers from that time frame and as you might imagine, most of the stories are about the war. If you want to have a look yourself, I would recommend ordering the microfilm through your local LDS History center.
