The Battens were in Dist 7 of Marshall after 1836 when Marshall was formed from Bedford Co. And I believe the Haskins may also have been in Marshall after that time or very close to the line in Bedford Co. I believe that some Battens still live in that area

There is a Ralston family in The History of Eagleville by Minnie Fairfield Dyer. Eagleville is in Rutherford County, just over the county line from Bedford County. The history given was said to have been compiled by Charlotte Ralston Fleming (1870-1953). David Ralston was married twice; his second wife was Mary Reid of Scotland. Their children were Alex (1779-1861), James (1783-1853), Samuel (1785-?), John (1787-?), George (1790-1838), David (1798-1875), Catherine (1793-1868), and William (1801-1870). David and Mary brought their family to America, leaving David's children by his first wife, whose names included William and Andrew, in Ireland. Andrew Ralston (1793-1863), son of either William or Andrew, was encouraged to come to America by his grandfather David and his uncle Alex. Andrew came in about 1814 and settled in Pennsylvania. By 1831 he was in Eagleville, TN where he applied to the Williamson County, TN court to become a citizen in 1840. (Eagleville, formerly in Williamson County, asked to be included in Rutherford County sometime in the middle 1800s.) What date do you have for the death of your George W. Ralston? Could he be this George? Carolyn Smotherman In a message dated 10/1/02 3:49:51 PM, crystalwoman@montana.com writes: << Looking for any data or clues on my husbands gggg grandfather George W.
