    3. Hi Peggy, I checked the cemetery book, and there are no listings for the surname STONE (at least I think that is what you were asking for below?). There are listings for STONE in the book, so please give me some more details and I will be happy to help. The cemetery book is still available from: Southern Historical Press, Inc. 375 West Braod Street P O Box 1257 Greenville, SC 29692-1267 864-233-2346 Best regards, Kathryn --- "Margaret H. 3. Carolyn I received my Bedford County History book a couple of days ago. Because of mail being lost on my route constantly I alerted the postman I was expecting it. He apparently remembered as when it came he said, I think this is the book you are looking for. I was so excited to get it. I could hardly wait to get the wrapper off. It is a very nice book. Lots of family history and I enjoy the pictures in it. My only regret is I did not get my husbands 3rd g. grandfather Samuel Vance in there. I am going to show it to the Genealogy Society here, they have several books on Bedford County, its possible they may be interested in this one. Kay --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? 3. Members of this list should be aware of the attitude of Shelbyville, TN City Officials and Developers regarding cemeteries in Bedford County. Those of you with interest in Cemeteries in this or any other area should be aware. Currently developers have asked to have property, including the McCuistion Family Cemetery adjacent to 201 Old Nashville Dirt Road in Shelbyville, TN, rezoned to residential for the purpose of building modular homes. Property surrounding the cemetery has been fenced and a herd of cattle is being pastured there. These cattle are destroying old tombstones and signs of graves. Developers, James W. Warren and Donald Stephenson, have refused to fence and preserve the cemetery; eventhough, they agreed to do so, in writing in 2001. City manager Ed Craig, Mayor Geneva Smith, Codes Enforcement Officer Wayne Williams and Chief of Police A. Swing have been contact without response. Mr. Fielder from the State of TN archaeological Office has also been contacted. The McCuistion Cemetery contains 36+ graves, most notably that of Ann Moody McCuistion, wife of Thomas McCuistion. Ann was the Grand Aunt of President Andrew Jackson. Ann was a participant in the battle of Guilford Courthouse in Greensboro, NC prior to coming to TN. Ann & Thomas McCuistion's home was seized by General Cornwalis and used as his headquarters during the battle of Guilford Courthouse. Approximately 2000 acres of downtown Shelbyville, TN was originally owned by the McCuistion family. A grist mill owned by Thomas McCuistion and Andrew Jackson was located on Duck Creek, near the cemetery, in Shelbyville. This cemetery is listed with the "Saving Graves Organization" as an endangered Cemetery. Title 46 of Tennesse Codes enumerates laws pertaining to preservation and destruction of cemeteries. These laws may be found "on Line" on the State of Tennessee Web Page. Destruction of Cemeteries is clearly a Felony Criminal Offense by Tennesse Law. I apologize for the length of this message, but, this situation should be a concern of all citizens. 3. Hi Julia, I sent Hal a personal email as I have already heard from him. I have quite a bit of info from these lines but it will take me a few days to put it together. Whatever I am missing, I bet Cindy will be able to help with as I know she has also researched these families. In the other email you asked about Thomas' first wife. It was Lucinda B. Stephenson (April 09, 1824-January 05, 1875). She is buried in the Stephenson Cemetery in the 18th District along with her parents and some of her children. I'll give you their details with the rest of the info. I'll get back with you soon, Kathryn --- Jmolitz@aol.com wrote: > Kathryn, I do not think I got back to you. Hal and his brother own their own business so he may not be able to get back to you right away. I want to thank you as well. I have a Stephenson married into my line. My great grandparents James Wright and Rebecca Renfro's (of Lincoln CO. TN.) daughter Anna married Samuel T. Stephenson 18-July-1871. I have not had the time to research this line but do know they had at least two daughters Julia and Cora. The given name Julia was used a lot in my family. I am named after Anna's sister Mary Julia Wright. Thank you once again Julia (Wright) Molitz Wright, Renfro, Armstrong, King, Burns, Holly, Stephenson, Hurley

Surnames: Smith Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/IhB.2ACI/343.1 Message Board Post: Would any of these family names be in the new Bedford County History book? I would order it but it is expensive to do so if there are no family connections listed. Could someone who has ordered the book check this please? Thanks so much!

    1. Re: [TNBEDFOR] Lady called Haskey
    2. Linda, Thanks! I was the compiler of those two and one other article. I should have mentioned that in my inquiry. After seeing all the Noblett/Noblitts in the Family History Book, I thought I would try my luck this way while everyone is recalling what they remember about their ancestors. Thanks again for taking the time to look up this info. Sorry I was so misleading.
