    2. To the best of my knowledge, all the cemeteries in Bedford County are in the Marsh book. (If anyone knows different, please tell me). Joe Pressgrove Dec 27, 1867 Mar 12, 1939 and Mary A. Pressgrove Mar 19, 1878 Mar 18, 1961 There are two good articles on the Pressgrove family in the new history book. One discusses possible ancestors of the Bedford Co Pressgroves, in NC and VA. The other one is about the Bedford Co branch of the family. Carolyn In a message dated 1/31/03 2:15:51 PM, theauchs@earthlink.net writes: << Does anyone know whether the burials in Willow Mount have been recorded? (I am not familiar with Marsh book, perhaps they are included?) My g-g-grandfather Joe PRESSGROVE was buried there in 1939 and I assume his wife also, Mary Adelaide PREGGSROVE (nee Thompson) after she died in 1961. Thanks.

    3. Sorry, I meant Thomas C. Hutton. There were some Hutton's also in Marshall County. They lived 1/2 way between Shelbyville and Lewisburg. John W. Hutton born in 1809 listed in the Goodspeed's Biographical Appendix with three sons: Thomas, William and Polk. Is this part of your line???

    1. [TNBEDFOR] TRICE from NC
    2. Janet Small
    3. Is there anyone researching the TRICEs in Bedford Co? My line is through Joseph & Ellender/Nelly Comb Trice. Following Joseph's death in Orange Co NC, Nelly and some of her children came to Bedford Co. She is found in the 1820 census as Nelly Trice with the numbers 100120-10011 indicating 2 males between 26-45; 1 between 16-26 and 1 less than 10; 1 female over 45; 1 between 26-45 and 1 less than 10. She would have been the over 45 female; the children under 10 were likely grandchildren. Did she have a son and his family or a daughter and her family living with her at this time? My line is through Joseph & Nelly's son William. By 1820 his name is on a list of dead letters in NC and he is most likely someplace in TN as his older children were born in TN. He married Sarah surname unknown probably in the early 1820s as their oldest son William Randolph Trice was born 25 Nov 1823. By 1840 his family was in Blount County AL. I would love to exchange info with anyone interested in this line. Janet Small

    2. Hall, Lisa
    3. On page 33 of the new County History book is an article about the murder of two policemen in Shelbyville. The article from the newspaper that was quoted in the article does not exactly match what our family story tells. Although Marion Anderson may have killed the wrong 2 policemen, there was a different motive involved. But that is besides the point. My reason for writing is that perhaps the book and article stimulated some memories of the times, crime, people, etc. and I would like to hear from anyone who remembers hearing anything about it from older family members. I am the great-granddaughter of Marion Anderson (possible born in 1889, married to Tennie Fletcher Anderson), who committed the crime. I would like to know anything I can about his family: names, dates, etc. Thanks for any information any of you might have.

    3. Linda, Thanks for looking for the Lewis Wilhoite name. Jacob Wilhoite IV and his wife Faye of Manchester, TN have written two volumes on the Wilhoite family. I have both of those and didn't know any other people except their daughter Susan who married Simon Peter Vess. Lewis and his family lived on Flat Creek. I lived in Nashville from 1946 until I graduated from VU. My folks were NASHVILLIANS. My daddy's people were the Davis/Mosby/Goodman family of Rutherford Co... The Lavergne area. I have been to Shelbyville to the library several times and Jacob Wilhoite took me to the Duck River about three miles out of Shelbyville to the old farm and the Wilhoite cemetery. The other name starts with a "w" and it is too early in the morning to remember and I haven't had my coffee! I had a wonderful time with Jacob tramping through the tall grasses down to the Duck to see the rockwork of one of the early Wilhoite mills. I love middle TN. We live in Bentonville, AR. NW AR and home of Wal-Mart. Jacob Wilhoite I was a conveyor and brought three groups of folks to Bedford County from Hillsborough(boro), Orange Co., NC. I hope you have a nice weekend.
