The obituary of Weldon J. Edwards reads: Edwards,Weldon J.,,93,Mar 7, ,1940,pg 1,Confederate vet. Buried Cochrane Cemt near Eagleville. Son Robert Edwards and Walter Edwards both of Nashville. Died at the Confederate Soldiers Home where he lived since 1937. Wife; Eula Edwards. 6 daughters; Mrs. J.C. Helton, Mrs. C.A. Tankiersley, Mrs. E.F. Boone and Mrs. Addie Simmons all of Nashville, Miss Elizabeth Edwards of Philadelphia Penn and Mrs. E.W. Crowder of Los Angeles Calif. I have him buried in the Hudson Cemetery. Did the Cochran cemetery at one time go by Hudson or did the Hudson go by Cochran, or do I have the wrong guy? The Weldon I have is the son of Weldon and Rachel West Edwards. Virginia, In 2002, you found the following info for me. I was looking for my Gobble connection to the Cobb family. "Alexander Hall to Mary Gobble, Dec 20, 1858. Bond. - Alexander Hall and W.M. Smith. Ceremony by A. Caraway, J.P., Dec 29, 1858. (The first date is the date of the license; the second date is the marriage date.)" This was in Obion Co., Tn. Everett Alan Gobble and his family including his wife, Jane Merrell, daughters Mary and Martha were in Lincoln Co census in 1850. The 1860 Obion Co census found Everett and wife Jane and W.A. Cobb and wife Martha and Alexander Hall and wife Mary all living in adjacent households. By 1870, Everett and wife Jane were in Wayne Co. Tn. Martha Cobb was living with them and the whereabouts of W.A. Cobb is unknown to me. I suspect he was a victim of the recent war. Thanks. I have a double dip in the Helton line in my tree. Edward P. Helton, died Sep 1959, aged 75 yrs 3 mo. (This is my great grandfather who comes from the James Helton line below). I have just started researching this line, so bear with me. ) Nashville Banner Aug 10, 1959 Edward P. Helton Services for Edward Porter Helton, 75 of 1201 Third Ave North were held this afternoon at Buena Vista Funeral Home. Officiating was the Rev. S.L. Hale, pastor of the Full Gospel Church of Jesus Church. Burial was in Lamb and Elmore Cemetery at Rover, Tenn. Mr. Helton was found dead at his home Saturday afternoon. The son of the late John Wilson Helton and Mary (Looney) Helton, he was born in Nashville, moving away at an early age but returning about 30 years ago. He was a retired employe of the Werthan Bag Co. He had worked there for 17 years. Surviving are two sons, Sam Helton, Shelbyville and John W. Helton, Nashville: 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. (John Wilson Helton and Argie Violet Delk Helton his wife are also buried in the Elmore Cemt) There are 3 daughters left of this union alive. I belive all the male children are deceased but left grand children (Samuel Lee Helton and Jessie Brentz Oliver Helton are buried in Willow t - my grandmother and grandfather) There is only one child left of Samuel Lee Helton and Jessie Brentz Oliver Helton still alive.
