Thank you very much, Steve, for posting H. L. Davidson's address. I'm wondering if this Hugh Davidson was the father of Priscilla Davidson b. ca 1827 who married G.E. ("El") Bowden. An 1860 census entry for Coffee County identifies some of G.E. and Priscilla's children: GE Bowden (41) living w/ Priscilla (33), Margret (14), Nancy (12), William (10), Charles (9), Susan (6), John (4), and Hugh (3) in the 5th Civil District (Tullahoma Post Office) of Coffee County, Tennessee. Priscilla Bowden's maiden name and her father's name are included in the Coffee County case of Bowdon v. Rathbone, but I'm not sure if it was the same Hugh Davidson. I have just scanned and converted to text the "Historical Address of Judge H .L. Davidson at the Centennial Celebration of the Tennessee Historical Society, July 4, 1876". This address is now posted on the Bedford County GenWeb site and linked from the History page: http://www.tngenweb.org/bedford/history.htm The original address is 22 pages in length and is from a book at TSLA in Nashville. It contains a lot of interesting history and information about the conditions in Bedford County in 1876. I want to thank Charles Reeves for posting it and Carolyn Smotherman for obtaining copies of pages missing from my photocopy. Marty Mendez has finished indexing the 1929 obituaries from the Shelbyville Gazette, I have made html from them, and Charles Reeves has posted them to the Bedford County TNGenWeb site. You can go straight to the obituaries at: http://www.tngenweb.org/bedford/Obituaries/Obituary_Index_1929.htm or look at all posted obituary indices and obituary transcriptions at: http://www.tngenweb.org/bedford/Obituaries/Obituary_Index.htm If you would like the full text of any of these obituaries posted, please post a request to this list or e-mail your request to Marty at "Martha Mendez" <[email protected]> I have also added the full text obituaries posted to this list over the past few months to the Bedford County TNGenWeb site also. Hello Fellow Researchers, The records personally collected by DAR members are searchable via internet. This includes cemetery, Family Bible, court, church, genealogies and many more records. Go to www.dar.org then click on "DAR Library." On the left, click on the second choice "GRC National Index." Using the Search Box, you will be able to search by Name, State, and request Book Titles. On the right of your find, click on *Ordering Page Copies, if you would like to order a copy of the record.. Sorry there is no file for Bedford County only, however, you might find "Bedford County" in the title of the record group. The DAR Library and Genealogical Records Committee is proud to announce exciting upgrades to the online GRC Index. Each record in the index is now directly connected to information on its source, including book title and Library catalog, which provides full details on the volume. These upgrades will make locating family records easier than ever. Photocopies of records in the GRC reports and other sources in the DAR Library's collection are available for purchase. For more information on ordering photocopies of records, see Search Services. Happy Hunting, Barb

I am researching the following Joseph Rogers who was a Revolutionary War Veteran. He applied for a pension in Bedford County, TN in 1832. The pension application states many valuable details about the life of Joseph Rogers. The application is from the book, "Revolutionary Soldiers of Bedford County" by Timothy and Helen Marsh, page 196, The following are quotes about : Joseph Rogers, rank private SC, soldier #1928 SC, claim #7037, TN, born September 17, 1750 in Amelia County, VA and died after 1834. Interrogatories by the Court: Q: Where and in what year were you born? A: I was born in Amealy (Amelia) County in the State of Virginia on the 17th day of September 1750. Q: Have you any record of your age and if so where is it? A: I have no record of my age at this time, but have seen it often where it was recorded in my father's dictionary, in the State of South Carolina, but where it is now, I cannot tell. Q: Where were you living when called into service? Where have you lived since the Revolutionary War and where do you now live? A: I was a citizen of Fairfield County in the State of South Carolina when I entered the service of the United States and continued there until after the close of the war, and I think I removed to the County of Fayette and State of Kentucky in the year 1792 or 1793, where I lived nearly three years, when I removed to the State of Georgia and I think I lived there fourteen years, I then removed to Rutherford County in the State of Tennessee where I lived about eight years, and from there I removed to Bedford County, Tennessee, where I have lived every since and where I now live I would like to correspond with any one searching these Rogers lines. Thank you for any help. [email protected]

Thanks Steve. I was able to save this district as a .gif file a few hours after I posted the problem. I tried both the methods below before I posted but had the problem only with this district. Barb, Yes, the Cobb family you listed from Franklin Co. TN is my line. The J.K. Cobb and family I am looking for is Jesse Cobb's stepson. He shares the same mother as the other children you listed. BTW, Marion R. Cobb was a male. My great grandfather was James P. Cobb. I descend from him and his second wife. I have quite a bit of info on these siblings but am always looking for more and wanted to fill out the line on J.K.'s descendants before I have the book printed. The book will be the descendants of Jesse and Nancy Cobb. Thanks for sending info. Virginia Greene
Velma: All of the hyperlinks are to .GIF files. The one you are interested in is: http://www.tngenweb.org/bedford/Maps/7th.gif Here is how I would save it. Once you have that image open in a browser you do what ever that browser does to save an image from a web page. In Internet Explorer (IE), you right click on the image and choose "Save picture as...". I just checked and I can save this image that way. Another way to save it is in IE is from the main page: http://www.tngenweb.org/bedford/maps.htm right click on the link text "District 7" and choose "Save target as...". I just checked and I can save the image that way also. Please let me know if neither of these work for you and we will work out another solution.
