Melissa, I would love to find any information on Charles and Betsy Perkins Wilkerson. They were in Bedford County area c. 1803 to 1840-1850. They lived in the part of Bedford County that later became Coffee County (Noah's fork of the Duck River). Anything pertaining to them would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much for your offer to do look ups. Virginia Wilkerson Halterman
I would appreciate anything you can find on Martha C. Pickle. I believe she was born in Bedford Cty in 1832. I have no idea who her parents were. She is on the 1850 census living with Jonathan and Penelope (Pickle) Leggit; perhaps they are her guardians? She is likely related to Penelope, but I don't know what the relationship is. I would appreciate anything leads to Martha's parents. Martha married William H. Marshall around 1854, somewhere in TN. In Chancery Court Records there is something about David McNeal that I was not able to read on a CD I bought. He and wife Malinda (maiden name unknown) married probably in Bedford Co about 1827. They lived in TN until about 1840 or 1841, then moved to McCracken Co. KY. Any info on this family would be greatly appreciated. fern

I have posted a short introduction to using the records of the Second Surveyor's District of middle Tennessee in research. The 9,091 surveys and accompanying plats in these records cover the period from 1807 until 1831 and are a valuable history research resource that is often overlooked. The introduction includes example images of record contents as well as an example of the data that can be found in the index (for the name "Michael Fisher") plus a transcription and page image of a typical survey (Book H, Page 251, Survey number 6035 made for Michael Fisher). You can find the introduction at: http://www.gscassociates.com/Second_District.html The Second Surveyor's District included all (or almost all) of the present-day counties of Bedford, Coffee, Franklin, Lincoln, Marshall, and Moore, as well as parts of the present-day counties of Cannon, Giles, Grundy, Marion, Maury, Rutherford, Warren, and Williamson. You can find these records at TSLA as part of series number 11 (Other Land Records), Record Group 50 (Early Land Records). The records also include a corresponding entry for each survey, but these entries generally contain less information than the corresponding surveys.

Not much activity on here lately, thought I would re-kindle some discussion. My interest is Seaborn Jones b. ca 1798 SC? who married Catherine Long in Bedford July 1820. First child named Tacy b. 1821; second child William L. Jones b.May 1822. They seemed to be in Flat Creek/Thompson's Creek area. Joseph Long, father of Catherine, shows deed activity there. I have not been able to determine Seaborn's parents - my guess would be a William Jones since there are some in the area. There are always new researchers joining the hunt, so I am renewing my information just in case.
