    1. Re: [TNBEDFOR] Look Up?
    2. I am so sorry I neglected to put any dates in my post. I have no dates on Elisha and wife, Sarah Loyd. Their son was born in 1847 near Shelbyville, Bedford Co, TN. The only thing close to possibly being any of these three people was a finding on the 1850 census for Bedford Co.; there is a Loyd, Sarah, age 26, born TN, with a son, James, age 6, born TN. That would be the wrong age for my James Daniel Loyd. But, who knows? Then again on the 1860 Bedford Census is a Loyd, "Sallie", age 36, born TN, and son, James, age 14, born TN. The people on these two censuses could possibly be the same people. But, there is no mention of a husband and father for either household. So, if these could be my people, Elisha appears to have died (?) by 1850. I have lots of info regarding James Daniel Loyd starting with him going to Arkansas at the age of 16. With or without his parents (?), we do not know. Would like to know though. I have him getting married in Batesville, Independence Co, AR on August 17, 1870. Have wife's name, her parents, and all there children, etc. My BIG desire is to find Sarah's maiden name, then hopefully her parents. But, would also like to find Elisha Loyd's parents. The name of Howell Loyd comes with our family's story of our ancestor Loyd's. The story is that possibly Howell Loyd came over from Wales as a young man in the early 1800's. Possibly worked the coal mines in Wales and maybe east TN before going to Bedford Co, TN. Do not know if "Howell" Loyd could possibly be Elisha Loyd's father. And, if so, who would his wife be? I do know there was a Howell Loyd listed on the 1830 census for Bedford Co. But, never have found any more mention of him anywhere. Have been searching for these people about eight years now. Would love to make contact with someone out there. Thanks in advance for any help from any of you. Sydney

    3. Hi Annie--- The John Warren that I am searching for should be John A. Warren and I thought the marriage was more like 1865. However, I will check this one out. It may very well prove to be who I am searching for so will keep it on file. The couple I am looking for might also have been in Moore Co. TN in 1880. I so appreciate your time and effort. I can't thank you enough. Ona On Thu, 21 Jul 2005 21:39:28 -0500 "Annie Grubbs" <[email protected]> writes: > I found a John W. Warren married to Martha Hall by John R. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/IhB.2ACI/588.6 Message Board Post: Melissa, Thanks for you kind offer. I doubt you will find any info in the material to link my Lee Loyd (I have the early Bedford county tax records for him) and the newspaper announcement of his marriage to Nancy Brooks 1829-30. Their son Rufus Loyd is my direct line, and I believe that Lee is a son of Nicholas Loyd and that Nancy is perhaps Elizabeth Ann Brooks, daughter of Edmund Brooks (Ann's were often called 'Nancy' , you know.). Lee died between the 1850 and 1860 census, and the family scattered before 1870, as many did in those horrible years.. Some say that Rufus, who had by then married Martha Smith and had children, never came home from the civil war. My great grandmother Annie Loyd was born to Rufus and Martha Smith Loyd in 1862, but I lose track of her until she appears in the 1880 census in Marion County AL, caring for an ill sister who had married a Nichols and moved back to Alabama with him. Annie was obviously orphaned (her known sisters are listed with their grandparents, George and Nancy Smith in 1870 Bedford County census). The saddest thing is that by 1880 Annie, tho only 18, had a four year old child with the Loyd surname, who was my grandmother. I hope, without reason, to find the father of my grandmother........and perhaps find that she was not born out of wedlock. Thanks. Dorothy

Her maiden name is on their son's, James Daniel Loyd, death certificate in Faulkner County, AR., but the name can not be deciphered. Would appreciate very much anything on either one of these people. They are ggg-grandparents. Would love to be able to find out Sarah's maiden name, when she and Elisha married, etc. Can't proceed with any research on her family without the name. 3. Hi Melissa, and thanks for your generous offer to do some lookups in the Bedford County books :) When you get a chance, could you look for some information containing my Noblit ancestors in Bedford County? The specific mystery I have in one link is this: Thomas Noblitt b. abt 1813, Bedford Co., TN, died before 1850, probably in Arkansas. Thomas was a son of William Noblitt (1789 - ?) and Mary Whinery (1789-?) of Dist 22, Bedford County (per 1850 Census). Thomas Noblitt married his wife Rebecca (unk surname) probably in Bedford County. By 1850, both Thomas and his wife were dead, and their 2 children Nancy T. Noblitt (1843-1914) and John M. Noblitt (1844-1899) were living with their grandparents William and Mary Noblitt in Bedford County. (On the 1850 Census in Bedford County, their surname is spelled Noblet, but it is actually Noblitt and all the Noblitts and Noblets in Bedford County are of the same family.) Correct spelling is actually Noblitt. If you are able to find any information about Thomas Noblitt/Noblet's marriage to a Rebecca, and how they died, I would appreciate that. Also, any information as to why old William Noblitt/Noblet, his wife Mary, and grandchildren by Thomas moved to Benton County Arkansas by 1860 would be appreciated. This Thomas Noblitt has been the real mystery man of my family history search, and I have next to no information on him at all.
