Fellow Bedford County Researchers: I have, over the years, turned time and time again to a wonderful book published by the Shelbyville Times-Gazette (1994). It is titled: A Pictorial History of Bedford County, Shelbyville, Tennessee. As the title reflects, the book contains some great photographs, from as early as 1833 (I have doubts about this date as I believe photography was not invented until sometime in the 1840s) through current-day. Sadly, the book was not indexed and there are LOTS of family names. Since, I felt like I kept going over and over the same territory, I decided to index the publication. For any of you interested in the index, I will be happy to share the index with you (or will do a lookup for you). In order for me to send the index to you (electronically), you will need to be able to read an Excel file. It is 31 pages longs (8 pitch font). I do not know if the publication is still available. If you are interested in this book, you may want to contact the Shelbyville Times-Gazette. Or, perhaps folks who live in the Bedford County area, can tell us if the book is still available???? Hope this helps someone. Maybe some of the folks on this list are the owner of the original photograph(s)??? Sorry Ann, I missed your previous message about having checked those counties. Have you found him in any of the censuses for 1870 or 1880. So many families had gone on to Arkansas, Texas and other parts (wherever the grass looked greener and opportunity and family were). That's why census records are a good source. Hello Hall researchers...I am searching for the parents of Elizabeth Ann Hall, born 1826 in Tennessee. She married William Monroe Henry Cooper in 1843 in Williamson County. He was listed in the Dist. #10, 1840 Bedford County census with his mother Sarah and sister Caroline Cooper. His father was Zacheus Cooper, who seems to go back and forth from Williamson to Bedford county. Wm. Monroe and Elizabeth Ann came to Izard County Ar. by 1844/45. She died in childbirth Dec. 9, 1859. They named their children: Wm . Cooper,Jr., Thomas Jefferson Cooper John Allen Cooper Benjamin Franklin Cooper Alfred Henry Cooper Orpha Angeline Cooper Mary Adaline Cooper Robert Augustus Cooper. Wm Monroe died as a results of serving in the Was between the states, in 1864. Any help would be very welcome...
