Clinton Courier Oct.9, 1975 Vowell Mtn. Woman Dead Of Gunshot A Vowell Mountain woman, Mrs. Lula Wagner, 60, was found dead at her home Sunday, the victim of a gunshot wound to the head. Anderson County coroner J.D. Hatmaker has ruled the death a suicide. Sheriff's deputies answered a call to investigate the shooting at Mrs. Wagner's residence on Vowell Mountain Rd., Lake City Rt.2, at about 4 p.m. Sunday. The coroner later determined she had been dead about 24 hours. Her daughter, Mrs. Billy Ray (Mary) Phillips of Lake City, said she last saw her mother who resided alone at about 3 p.n. Saturday when she visited her to take her a birthday present. She said her son had been with Mrs. Wagner about 6 p.m. Mrs. Phillips said her mother had suffered from severe headaches for some time and that she looked rather pale but did not seem abnormally depressed when she last saw her. Mrs. Wagner left a death note. Mrs. Wagner was a native of Anderson County and had resided in the Vowell Mountain community since 1939. she was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church. Beside Mrs. Phillips, she leaves two other daughters, Mrs. Albert (Elise) Wilson of Cleveland, Ohio, and Mrs. Albert (Alice) Cantrell of Brunswick, Ohio., a son, the Rev. Hudson Wagner of Cleveland, Ohio., 12 grandchildren, five brothers, Luke Seiber of Devonia, Bill Seiber and Elridge Seiber, both of Cleveland, Ohio, Albert Seiber and Joe Seiber, both of Lake City. Funeral services were Wednesday at Mountain View Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Warner Hawkins and the Rev. Charlie Mack Marlow. Burial was in the church cemetery.
