    3. Clinton Courier March 4, 1982 Braden, 72, Dies After Long Illness A former coal miner and longtime resident of the Glen Alpine community, Edward L. Braden, 72, of Old Highway 61, Clinton Rt.1, died at 8:20 a.m. last Thursday at Oak Ridge Hospital. He had been ill several years with black lung. Braden was a member and past president of the Anderson County Beekeepers Association. He was a member of the Second Baptist Church of Clinton and Crystal Masonic Lodge No. 616 F&AM in Briceville. He retired from Oak Ridge Hospital 10 years ago. Braden was originally from the Braden Flats area. After leaving the coal mines, he became a maintenance worker at Oak Hospital. He and his wife, Mrs. Virla Hillion (Granny) Braden, had lived most of their married life at their house off State Highway 61. The couple had been married 49 years. In addition to his wife, Braden is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Bill (Reba) Skeens, Mrs. Anthony (Margaret) Maples, both of Clinton Rt1., and Mrs. Billy (Geraldine) Miller of Clinton Rt.2, nine grandchildren, four sisters, Mrs. Sallie Braden, Mrs. Ruthie Braden, Mrs. Maggie Goans and Mrs. Nancy Byrge all of Briceville Rt1. Funeral services were held Saturday at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim McPherson and the Rev. S. A. Munatt officiating. Burial was in Bethel Cemetery.
