Clinton Courier Oct 2, 1996 Emertt McCoy Sr. Sept. 29, 1996 Emertt Eric McCoy Sr., 81, a native of Greeneville, died Sunday, Sept.29, 1996, in Newport News, Va. He retired from the U.S. Army in 1970 after 25 years of service. He was a member of Colony Friends Church. Preceded in death by son, Charles McCoy, and sister, Nadine Hampton, Survivors, wife, Reva Mae McCoy, daughters, Ann Hicks of Yorktown, Va., and Anita Norton of Savannah, Ga., son, Emertt Eric McCoy of Gloucester, Va., sisters, Lola Allen of Clinchport, Va., Bernice Shaw of Johnson City, Lillian Edwards of Dayton, Ohio., Naomi Elrod of Greeneville, Dorothy Herrell of Grandview, Mo., and Jeanette Barnette of Clinton, brother, Rudolph McCoy of Toledo, Ohio., grandchildren, Travis G. Hicks of Yorktown, Pa., Bruce Marshall Norton Jr. of Savannah, Ga., Nina M. Norton of Savannah, Ga., Emerrt Eric McCoy of Gloucester, Va., and Christopher McCoy of Gloucester, Va., and several nieces and nephews. A visitation was held 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct.1, in Umphlett Funeral Home, Newport News, Va. Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2 in Umphlett Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. William Lockwood of Colony Friends Church officiating. Burial was in Hampton Veterans Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or Colony Friends Church. .
