Clinton Courier Feb. 8, 1940 Leinarts Mrs. Belle Wallace reports that for the first time in its over 30 years, potatoes froze in a cellar under crib during the recent cold wave. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Farmer returned to Knoxville Sunday after a ten day visit with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wilson and Mr. and Mrs. Bart Farmer. Mr. and Mrs. Owen Seiber spent Sunday afternoon with his mother, Mrs. W.A. Seiber at Pleasant Hill Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Spessard of Jacksboro were guests of his father, J.R. Spessard Sunday. Mrs. Sadie Gann had as dinner guests Sunday the Stephen Long of Laurel. Mrs. Elizabeth Davis of Marlow was called here Saturday on account of the illness of her grandson, Fred Weaver, son of Mr. and Mrs. I.L. Weaver who was stricken with pneumonia earlier in the week. A number of friends and relatives attended the funeral of Bill Scarboro at the Robbins Cemetery Sunday. Mrs. Essie Cox had been at Batley for several days on account of the illness of her brother, Sabert Leinart.Mr. Leinart has jaundice. Henry Ford of Westbourne visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Willis Ford Saturday. Bart Farmer is in receipt of a card from his cousin, Bill King, who lives in Minnesota saying that the ice on the streams is as much as 24 inches thick. Maybe sunny Tennessee is not so bad after all !
