July 4th would have been the 50th anniversary of the store. He and his wife started the business in the location where it is now operated on July 4, 1903. Foust's mining career began when he was 13 years old and he retired from the mining business in 1941. He was an alderman for the Town of Lake City in the 1920s, a member of the Main St Baptist Church, and IOOF. He had been ill for several months. The home was on Dutch Valley Road at Lake City, Rt 1, and her former home was two doors away. Mrs Foust, a native of Coal Creek, now Lake City, was the widow of William Rufus Foust. He worked as a miner for some time, retiring as a night watchman for the Atomic Energy Commission in Oak Ridge. He died in March of 1947. Besides caring for her own family, Mrs Foust grew flowers and did other gardening. She worked as a midwife until home births were discontinued. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Lake City.
