Clinton Courier Sept. 14, 1994 Richard Samuel Phillips, Sept. 12,1994 The Rev. Richard Samuel Phillips, 82, of Clinton died Sunday in Methodist Center of Oak Ridge. Rev. Phillips served as pastor for many churches, including Pleasant Hill Baptist, Moran Baptist, Island Ford Baptist, Spring Hill Baptist and Clinch River Baptist churches. He was employed with Union Carbide for 27 years. Rev.Phillips was a member of Pleasant View. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Ida Harkleroad, daughter, Mary Elizabeth Phillips, and a sister, Fleda Phillips. Survivors include his wife, Jennie Huckaby Phillips, daughters and sons-in-law, Naomi and Don Long of Clinton, Jewell and Francis Henson of Rockwood and Shirley and John Matheson of Wartburg, sons and daughters-in-law, Homer E. "Buddy" and Janice Phillips of Orangevale, Calif., David and Peggy Phillips of Oak Ridge, and Terry and Carol Phillips of Clinton,16 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, half-sister, Evelyn Kiser of Powell and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Pleasant View Baptist Church with the Rev. Donnie Disney and the Rev. Donnie Wallace officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
