    1. [TNANDERS] Fanny Lea m. James William England

    3. There's an Anderson County marriage, Fanney Lee to William England, 14 Jul 1875. I believe that William England was James William (William or Wilburn or Bill) England, son of my ggg grandparents John England and Jane (Jenny) Peters. If so, then this particular Bill England was the brother of my gg grandmother Vesta Clay England. Fanny Lea is a little more problematic. Bill England married second Margaret Jones on 17 Aug 1878 in Morgan County. There is a 1948 Knox County death certificate for Addie England Wallace that says she was born 5/20/1875 and that her parents were Bill England and Fannie Lee. I believe that Addie's full name was Adda Jane (Addie) England. Census data persuade me that Addie was born about 1876 or 1877. Therefore, I would guess that Fanny died about 1877, either sometime after Addie was born or perhaps Fanny died in childbirth. I believe that Fanny was the daughter of James Crofford Lea and Rebecca Adaline Starky. A key piece of data comes from the following census entry. Knox County Dist. 19 was the Beaver Ridge community, an area of Knox County where many Anderson County families may be found. Dist. 19, E.D. 162, Knox County, Tennessee, Jun 1880 p.413b, HN 152, FN 157 Lee Crofford 54 head m m w farmer TN TN TN cannot W Rebecca A. 53 wife f m w TN TN TN cannot R/W Nancy J. 15 dau f s w TN TN TN Adda J. 3 Gdau f s w TN TN TN I believe that Adda J. age 3 was the aforementioned Adda Jane (Addie) England. Addie's surname in the 1880 census should have been listed as England rather than her grandparents' surname of Lea or Lee. Addie married Alex Wallace, and the informant on her death certificate was her son Carl Edward (Eddie) Wallace. Another key piece of data comes from the following census entry. Dist. 19, Knox County, Tennessee, 20 Jun 1870, Beaver Ridge PO p.338a, HN 52, FN 53 Lea J. C. 46 m w farming /$300 TN cannot R/W Rebecca 44 f w keeping house TN cannot R/W C. G. 18 m w TN cannot R/W Mary A 12 f w TN cannot R/W Fanny E 10 f w TN cannot R/W Nancy J 5 f w TN This census entry is the only information I have found on Fanny's birth date. The fly in the ointment of all this information is that there is a Knox County marriage, Fanny Lee to B. B. Owens, 17 Jun 1890. Some researchers show the Fanny Lee who married B. B. Owens as the daughter of James Crofford Lea and Rebecca Adaline Starky. That doesn't seem very likely to me. I think the Addie England Wallace death certificate plus the 1870 and 1880 census entries for the family of James Crofford Lea are very strong evidence that the Fannie Lea who was the daughter of James Crofford Lea was the same person who married Bill England. Unless Fannie was divorced from Bill England rather than dying about 1877, unless she regained her maiden name, and unless she didn't raise her daughter Addie, then she wasn't the one who married B. B. Owens. However, I can't find any data about B. B. Owens and his wife Fanny Lee other than their 1890 marriage record.
