Preceded in death by: husband, Alonzo Barnes; parents, Elisha & Rhoda Smith Williams; brothers, Troy, Clarence, Paul Robert, Verlin and Thomas Franklin Williams. Survivors: sons, Kermit & Ken Barnes, Sidney, Ohio, Jim Barnes, Ana, Ohio; daughters, Judy Boruff, Morristown, Vickie Perron, Dania, Fla.; 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; brother, Elisha Williams; sisters, Patsy Graves & Azlee Goins, all of LaFollette; several nieces & nephews. (JR) - age 63 of Knoxville, passed away 5:05 p.m. Saturday February 12, 2005 after an extended illness of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. At his passing he was surrounded by his family and close friends. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Minnie Josephine Tippens Hickman and Ira C. Hickman, Sr. He retired after 25 years of service in the Armed Forces of the United States including three years in the Navy during the Vietnam Conflict and 22 years in the National Guard. He retired from Y-12 after 31 years. His family would like to recognize the loving care given by the nurses and respiratory therapists on the ground floor at St. Mary's Hospital, and at Hillcrest North Respiratory Care Unit. He is survived by: his wife of 27 years, Betty Hickman of Knoxville; sons, Stephen Hickman of Knoxville and David Hickman of Michigan; daughters, Pam Williams of Knoxville, and son-in-law Jerry, Angela Childers also of Knoxville, and son-in-law, Michael; brothers Frank Hickman and wife Janice of Dyersburg, Phillip Hickman and wife Christy also of Dyersburg; sister, Phyllis Stephens and husband Joe also of Dyersburg; his father's wife, Vola Hickman of Knoxville. He was a very proud grandfather to Emily, Joshua, Cameron, Cody, Rachael and Maddie. He was also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and his loving dog, Buffy. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in his name to the American Lung Association at: (865) 691-7228. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday followed by a funeral services at 8:00 p.m. in Stevens Chapel. The family and friends will meet at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday at Highland Memorial Cemetery on Southerland Avenue for a 2:00 p.m. graveside service and interment.
