MILDRED "MILLIE" CARTER - age 88, Farmington Trail, Kingston, TN KEITH, KENNETH RAY - age 52 of Kingston, TN MADGETT, EDITH MAGDELENE - PETERSON, HELEN S. - age 88 of Powell, ROBERTS, THOMAS (TOMMY) - ASHER, HAZEL BROWN - 85 a resident of Oak Ridge for 54 years, died Sunday, February 20, 2005. Mrs. Asher was born November 5, 1919, in Alabama, the daughter of James Kile and Eunice Mitchell Kile, who are both deceased. She was a graduate of Birmingham Southern College and worked for a number of years for the Department of Energy as an Editor and a Publications Manager. A member of the Highland View Church of Christ, Mrs. Asher was preceded in death by her first husband, J.D. Brown in 1971, and by her second husband, S. Earl Asher in 1990. She resided for the past 2 years at The Continuum CourtYards of Oak Ridge. Mrs. Asher is survived by: two daughters, Jan Brown Bailey (Rex L.) Lexington, Ky., and Judi Brown Whitson, Knoxville; two sons, Noel D. Brown (Martha B.), Charlotte, NC., and Derek M. Brown (Faye), Shelbyville, TN.; a brother, James A. (Randy) Kile; and a sister, Jeanne Kile Miller, all of Birmingham. Also surviving are: 7 grandchildren: Erin Bailey Coleman Tuttle (Jason) and Mary Elizabeth Bailey Baker (Ed), both of Lexington, KY., Kristen Bailey Jensen (Gary), Cape Elizabeth, ME, Alan H. Bailey (Julie), Denver, CO., H. Stephen Whitson (Shannon) and Susan Whitson Hodges (Michael), both of Knoxville, and Christopher Brown, Shelbyville, TN. Mrs. Asher's 10 great-grandchildren are: Kendall Coleman, Kate Coleman, Emma Coleman, Jack Tuttle, and Lauren Baker all of Lexington; Bailey Jensen and Claire Jensen, Cape Elizabeth, ME.; Ryann Whitson and Harrison Whitson, Knoxville; and Grace Bailey, Denver, CO. The funeral service will be Thursday, February 24, 1:00 pm at Weatherford Mortuary with Curtis McClane, minister of Highland View Church of Christ officiating. Entombment will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 11 am to 1 pm at Weatherford Mortuary. MILDRED "MILLIE" CARTER - age 88, Farmington Trail, Kingston, TN passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2005 at the Roane Medical Center in Harriman, TN. Mrs. Edwards was born July 26, 1916 in Roane County, TN. She was a member of Trenton Street Baptist Church in Harriman; a member of Order of Eastern Star, Laurel Chapter #22, Harriman; and a member of the Harriman Garden Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur & Cordie Carter; husband, E. B. "Eddie" Edwards; brothers, Billy and A. Sherman Carter. Survivors include: nephew: Wayne Robinette & wife, Tammy, Harriman, TN; niece: Patricia Wright, Harriman, TN; special friends: Joel & Barbara Pearman and Billie & Charlie Bruce, all of Kingston, TN. Graveside services and interment will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 25, 2005 at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Rockwood with Rev. Dennis Jarnagin officiating. Special thanks to Dr. Douglas M. Batchelor, Dr. Arnel H. Panelo, and the emergency room staff at Roane Medical Center. The family requests that memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association. KEITH, KENNETH RAY - age 52 of Kingston, TN passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2005 at Roane Medical Center in Harriman following a short illness. He was known and loved for his gentle nature and willingness to help others. Preceded in death by his father Alvin Keith and sister Sherry Keith Ausmus. Survived by his mother, Shirley Keith; sister and brother-in-law Pat and Bryson Branham; Nephews Steve Branham and Leigh-Ann, Jeremiah Arthur, Phillip and Jonathan Ausmus; nieces Rachel Branham; great-nephews J.J. and Joshua Arthur. Visitation will be Thursday, February 24, 2005 from 6-8 pm. Graveside service Friday, February 25 at 2:00 pm in Roane Memorial Gardens. MADGETT, EDITH MAGDELENE - passed away February 23, 2005 at Park West Hospital after a lingering illness. Born March 27, 1913 to Clarence and Ora Wilson of Heiskell, TN. She was a member of Bishopville Baptist Church at Heiskell. She was a graduate of Powell High School and a captain of the girls basketball team. She worked at the Oak Ridge Y-12 Plant, Manhattan Project, and was a certified elementary school teacher. Preceded in death by husband James R. Madgett. Survived by sons James W. and Don W. Madgett and wife Pat; daughter Judith Ellis; grandchildren Melissa, Donnie, and David Madgett, Melissa and Mark Mylon, and William Ellis; great-grandchildren Tyler, Caroline, and Gavin; brother and sister-in-law Clyde and Dimple Wilson, and sister Lillian Scarbro. Family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday February 24, 2005 at Woodhaven Funeral Home on Edgemoor Road in Powell. Funeral at 8:00 p.m. with Rev. W.W. Cope and Rev. Harold Ogle officiating. Graveside services at Woodhaven. PETERSON, HELEN S. - age 88 of Powell, passed away from this life to be with the Lord on Wednesday February 23, 2005 at Northhaven Health Care Center. She attended Heritage Fellowship in Oak Ridge. She was preceded in death by: father, Walter Stillman; mother, Firbie Runyon; brothers, Gene, John and Charles Stillman; sister: Dorothy Martin; husband J. Don Peterson. Survivors: devoted sons, Joe Don, Ralph Douglas and Charles Grady Peterson of Knoxville; several nieces & nephews. Family and friends will meet at Woodlawn Cemetery 2:45 p.m. Saturday for graveside services at 3:00 p.m. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel. ROBERTS, THOMAS (TOMMY) -went to be with Jesus on February 22, 2005. He was born on October 2, 1919. He was retired from Oak Ridge National Laboratory where he was a machinist. He served in the U.S. Army in the European Theatre during World War II. He was a member of Kerbela Klown Korp and Inskip Baptist Church. Preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Patrick Roberts; parents, Tom and Grace Roberts; sisters, Betty Withers and Dorothy Ann Rudder; brother, James C. Roberts. Survivors include son, Mike Roberts; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Jerry Sharp; grandchildren, Randy Sharp and finance', Mary Thomason, Chris and Jennifer Sharp, Julie Roberts and Tommy and Kristie Roberts; great-grandsons, Justin, Brandin, Tyler, Austin and Conner Sharp; Cole, Thomas and Eli Roberts; sister, Jane Whitmire of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews. A special thank you to his friend and caregiver, Shirley Vandaveer and to Baptist Hospice for their loving care during Dad's illness.
