    3. Clinton Courier Sept.12,1990 Opal Phillips Daugherty Opal Phillips Daugherty,59, of Devonia died Sunday,Sept.9, at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Mrs.Daugherty was a member of the Communion Missionary Baptist Church an the Sunrise Chapter No.364 Order of the Eastern Star.She was preceded in death by her parents,Guy and Verdie Phillips and her husband, Byrd Daugherty.Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Anita and P.J. Seiber of Jacksboro, Tena and James Moore of Devonia,Vergie and Steve Mills of Lake City,sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth Byrd and Lavonia Daugherty of Devonia,Roger and Linda Daugherty of Lafollette,grandchildren,Scott,Joe and Lanette Daugherty, Angel Seiber and Adam Moore,brothers, Leodis Phillips of Devonia, Early Phillips of Clinton and J.C. Phillips of Wartburg, and several nieces and nephews.The funeral was held Wednesday Sept.12,at the Communion Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev.Edwin Phillips,the Rev.Ray Scarbrough and the Rev.George Asbury officiating. Burial was at the Anderson Memorial Gardens.The Cox Funeral Home in Lake City was in charge. Clinton Courier April 21-22,1991 John Benjamin Agent John Benjamin Agent,31, of Duncan Flats Community,Briceville Rt.1,died April 16 at his home. He had been employed by Tennessee Valley Authority as an apprentice boilermaker for the past five years. He also was a Navy veteran.A native of Gary,Ind.he was reared by the late Loomis and Sylvia Cox, aunt and uncle of Christine Brown of Briceville,who survives him.Graveside services with full military honors were held Saturday at Brown-Lowe Cemetery in Briceville.Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs was in charge of arrangements.
