From The Knoxville News Sentinel 8 Feb 2008 BLALOCK, SHIRLEY JANE - age 69 of Andersonville, COX, EMILY QUEENER - COX, GLADYS - age 76, of Lake City, FLAKE, MAURICE LEO - age 86, of Harriman, Tennessee, HOLT, VIOLA EVANS - age 72 of Harriman, BLALOCK, SHIRLEY JANE - age 69 of Andersonville, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, February 5, 2005. She was of the Baptist Faith and retired from Allied Signal Corp. with 28 years of service. Preceded in death by: parents, Charles and Margaret King; daughter, Donna Humphries; brother, Sonny King; sister, Betty Gifford and special friend: Jean Hawkins. Survivors: husband, Bob Blalock; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Carolyn Baker; grandchildren, Dustin Humphries, Carey Brantley, Heather and Brandon Baker; great grandchildren, Eli Baker and McKenzie Humphries; brother, Wayne King; sisters, Peggy Cline and Becky Quandt; special friend, Nancy Reynolds; and a host of others. Family and friends will meet 10:15 am Thursday at Mynatt Funeral Home and proceed to Halls Memory Garden for a graveside service at 11 am, Rev. Bill Hall officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials to be made to the American Cancer Society or American Lung Association. Family will receive friends 6 to 8 pm Wednesday at Mynatt Funeral Home. COX, EMILY QUEENER - passed away Sunday, February 6, 2005 in Maryville at 99 1/2 years of age. Emily was a long time member of Clinton First Baptist Church. Emily grew up in the Dutch Valley Community. She and Frank were married in 1929 and lived in Clinton until 1985 when they moved to Maryville to be near their daughter and family. They took great pride in keeping a neat and beautiful home and yard. She spent many pleasurable hours growing flowers. She was well known as a wonderful cook. Her happiest times were when she had her family gathered in their home for big dinners. She was of a most generous nature and enjoyed serving others rather than being served. She and her husband were both employed by Magnet Mills from young adults until the mill closed. Emily was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for many years. She is preceded in death by: her husband, Frank Alexander Cox; parents, Caswell & Burnette Seiber Queener; brothers, Haskell, Ervin, Hope, and Ralph Queener. Survivors: daughter, Joyce & husband Bill Driskill of Maryville; granddaughter, Carol & husband Paul Law of Maryville; grandson, David & wife Donna Driskill of Dallas, GA; great grandsons, Caleb & Curtis Law of Maryville; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 2:00-3:00 pm, Tuesday, February 7, 2005 at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home with funeral services following in the Chapel with Rev. Sam Dean officiating. Her burial will follow at Woodhaven Memorial Garden. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of all arrangements. COX, GLADYS - age 76, of Lake City, passed away Sunday, February 6, 2005 at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. She was born September 16, 1928 in Anderson County, Tennessee. She was a member of The Guiding Star Baptist Church. Gladys was a wonderful wife and mother. She is preceded in death by her parents, Carson and Katey Burton Foust; 4 brothers and 2 sisters. Survivors: husband, James A. Cox of Lake City; sons, Ronald Cox and wife, Debbie, Gary Cox and wife, Betty and Benny Cox, all of Lake City; daughters, Sheila Weaver of Clinton, Pam Ivy and Connie Lamb and husband, Ronnie, of Lake City; brothers, Theodore Foust of Lake City and Pete Foust of Vonore; sisters, Betty Powers of Dayton, TN and Helen Wilson of Ohio; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be from 6-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2005 at Hatmaker Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2005 in the Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Jack Taylor officiating. Interment will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 9, 2005 at Disney Cemetery in Lake City, TN. Hatmaker Funeral Home of Lake city in charge of arrangements. FLAKE, MAURICE LEO - age 86, of Harriman, Tennessee, passed away Monday evening at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. Brown Funeral Home, Kingston in charge of arrangements. HOLT, VIOLA EVANS - age 72 of Harriman, passed away Monday February 7, 2005 at her home. She was a member of Tennessee Chapel Baptist Church. Preceded in death by: her husband, Marion E. Holt. Survivors include: daughter, Darlene Holt of Harriman; sons and daughters-in-law, Dwight and Joan Holt of Philadelphia, TN; Dennis and Dorcas Holt of Friendsville; Jonathan and Belinda Holt of Harriman; sisters, Thelma Bayless of Harriman; Zelma Settles of Kingston; Evelyn Williams of Maryville; Rebecca Lamance of Harriman; brothers, Jesse Evans of Kingston; Curtis Evans of Harriman; Sam Evans of Kingston; Albert Evans of Kingston; 7 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren. Funeral 2pm Wednesday February 9, 2005 in the Kyker Chapel with Rev. Kenny Clinton and Lic. Dennis Holt officiating. Burial in Tennessee Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.
