You might have another branch. My dad said therewere 3 branches in/around Coal Creek: The Clear Branch (me), the "fair grounds"[Ibelieve that's John B. Rhea] and the Offet(?) Rd. set. I was 12 when we moved to Michigan. I do remeber Savage Garden(went there on a school trip in the 6th grade) (Neal Burton was the teacher). I don't remeber Rhea bridge though. I went to Lake City elm. 3rd-7th & remeber walking home the loooog way(through the fairgrounds,Lovely Bluff(always stop to get a drink from the pipe comming out of the rocks by the bridge(is that Rhea bridge?), out Savage Garden Rd. to "New" Clear Branch & on to the "old" road. We lived between "Red" Goins & Wes & Mary{Andrews} Rhea's(g-uncle&aunt). I haven't found a Mattie Rhea Massengill. Yet! But then again, I haven't started on John W.'s brothers & sister.(just found out about them a couple months ago). Seems I'm the ony one looking for this branch of Rheas. I'm the oldest of Alvin Cleo & Bessie Mae{Hutson} Rhea's grandchildren(13 of us), so I guess it's up to me. With all the wonderful, sharing people out there (this site alone has added another 25%) I'm growing our tree and trying to write a book. As I told Phyllis, family always shares. That's what I was taught. And thar's what I do. Anything I can help you guys with, please, just let me know. Thanks. Hey Libby, Bill does put on a good fish fry. Just thinking about the fish turning golden brown with the hushpuppies and rising to the top of that kettle of old fashioned "100% pure pork Lard" is enough to make a grown man cry. I have heard stories about how back before they damed up the Clinch River and down by the Massengill Bridge and next to the Old Massengill Store the fellows use to catch Catfish between 5 and 6 feet long and they would take an old black kettle over a rolling fire and have a fish fry. Now if my memory serves me correctly James Kelly Massengill was married to a Mattie Rhea and their daughter Rella Mae Massengill was married to Charlie Lee(Joe)Johnson.. Charlie Joe was a 3rd cousin on my Moms side of the family and Rella Mae had a brother James Paul Massengill who was married to Margaret Kathleen Disney and she was my Dads first cousin or my second cousin. Anyhow if Terry Rhea reads this are you related to Mattie Rhea Massengill? Now do you see how weird one starts thinking after doing this stuff for about 24 years?
