GORDON L. - age 66 of Knoxville, formerly of Harriman, MAXEY, BARBARA SUMMERS MATLOCK - age 74 of Harriman, SMITH, RUTHE B.- 68 of Oak Ridge, SUMMERS, FRANK DEW, TERRY LEE - age 42 of Clinton, passed away Sunday, February 20, 2005 at his residence. He was of the Baptist Faith. Terry was a press operator at Carton Service in Norris. Survivors: wife, Annette Dew of Clinton; parents, Jesse "Boots" & Loretta Dew of Heiskell; son, Travis Dew of Clinton; daughter, Grace & husband Victor Villasana of Maryville; mother-in-law, Crinnie Maples of Pattsonburg, MO; brothers, Darrell Dew of Heiskell, Steven & wife Julia Dew of Heiskell; sister, Connie & husband Billy Hughes of Heiskell; grandson, Brandon Villasana; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 6:00- 8:00 pm, Tuesday, February 22, 2005 at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home with funeral services following in the Chapel with Rev. Calvin Headrick & Rev. Don Ward officiating. His burial will be 10:30 am Wednesday at Grandview Memorial Garden. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of all arrangements. DUNCAN, CORINE LENORA DODD - age 84 of Claxton, passed away Sunday, February 20, 2005 at her home. She was a long standing member of Edgemoor Baptist Church. Preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Lenora Dodd, Husband, William Paul Duncan, and sister, Mabel Ann Dodd. Survivors include: sons, Michael Paul Duncan, Steven Wayne Duncan and wife, Donna, Thomas Neal Duncan and wife, Aspascia, daughters, Sylvia Lenora Davis and husband, James W., Mary Elaine Frame and husband, Mike, sister, Leona Duke of Manchester, TN, 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 23, 2005 at 11:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Woodhaven Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Petty officiating. Interment services will follow in the Woodhaven Memorial Gardens. The Duncan family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 - 9 p.m. Arrangements by Woodhaven Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens. ELKINS, EVERETTE "LYNN" - age 61 of Clinton, passed away Sunday, February 20, 2005 at Morning Pointe Assisted Living. He was a member of Hillvale Baptist Church and was employed at I.B.E.W., Local 760 as an electrician in Knoxville. Lynn was preceded in death by: his father, Everette Elkins; and sister, Patricia Elkins. Survivors: mother, Mary E. Elkins of Clinton; son, Joe & wife Tana Elkins of Clinton; grandchildren, Chase & Lea Elkins; several cousins. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 pm, Tuesday, February 22, 2005 at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home. ROBERT WAYNE - age 72 of Harriman, passed away Sunday, February 20, 2005. He was a Korean War veteran and retired from the Civil Service at Fort Bragg, NC. He is survived by: his wife, Billie Pogue Hannah; two sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Susan Hannah, Don and Judy Hannah; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two brothers, Thomas and Harold Hannah; one sister, Sylvia Mangum. The family will receive friends Tuesday February 22, 2005 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Davis Funeral Home, Harriman. A Masonic and Eastern Star service will be held at 8:00 pm. Arrangements by Davis Funeral Home, Harriman. HOLLAND, MR. GORDON L. - age 66 of Knoxville, formerly of Harriman, passed from this life Saturday, February 19, 2005 at Baptist Hospital West. He was retired from T.V.A. Knoxville. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Fred J. and Rosa Lee Holland; and one brother, Wayne Holland. He is survived by: his wife of 47 years, Carolyn Holland; two daughters and one son-in-law, Tammy Brown and Kim and Steve King, all of Knoxville; one son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Rosie Holland of High Point, NC; two grandsons, Dusty and Garan Brown; two granddaughters, Kendall and Brittany King of Knoxville; two step- grandchildren, Janine Smith of Abilene, Texas and Charles Garcia of Austin, Texas; one brother, Freddy Holland of Knoxville; a niece and several nephews. The family will receive friends Tuesday February 22, 2005 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at Davis Funeral Home, Harriman. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm with Rev. Greg Harper officiating. MAXEY, BARBARA SUMMERS MATLOCK - age 74 of Harriman, died at 4:05 am Sunday, February 20, 2005 at Asbury Acres Nursing Home. She was of the Methodist Faith. Preceded in death by: her husband, Carl Matlock; parents, Iva & Joe Summers. She is survived by: her daughters and sons-in-law: Donna & Bill Devany, Missy & Alan Watts; sons & daughters-in-law: Steve & Bridget Matlock, Ray & Dana Matlock; grandchildren: Angie Reinlee, Jennifer Cornellison, Chere Matlock, Amy Russell, Victoria Watts, Carly Watts, and Mason Matlock; 8 great grandchildren; and her life long friend Ellen Johnson. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 am Tuesday at Highland Memorial Park for an 11:00 am graveside service and interment with Rev. Bill Akers officiating. SMITH, RUTHE B.- 68 of Oak Ridge, died at Methodist Medical Center on February 20, 2005. Born on June 8, 1936 in Cherokee County, NC to parents Rufus and Vernedith Payne Voyles. In 1952, Mrs. Smith came from North Carolina to this area. She was a member of Batley Baptist Church. he enjoyed gardening and watching her grandson play baseball. Survivors include: husband, Cleo Smith, Oak Ridge; daughters, Karon Joan Walton and husband, Bruce, Oak Ridge, Reta Velvet Weaver and husband, Dan, Kingston, Velma Sue Liddle and husband, David, Mt. Juliet, TN; sister, Dorothy Jones, Oliver Springs; grandson, Cody Garrett Liddle; and many nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held in the Chapel of Weatherford Mortuary tonight, 7 pm with Dr. Steve McDonald officiating. A graveside service will be held at Anderson Memorial Gardens on Wednesday, 1 pm. The family will receive friends tonight from 5-7 pm at Weatherford Mortuary. An online guest book may be signed at: www.weatherfordmortuary.com. SUMMERS, FRANK - age 82 born January 14, 1923 passed away Sunday, February 20, 2005 at his home in Oakdale. He served in the US Army in World War II from 1943 to 1946, with 20 months duty in the Pacific Theater: New Guinea, the Dutch East Indies, and the Philippine Islands. He was a longtime member of White Oak Baptist Church where he attended until his health failed. He was a truck driver for many years before becoming the Rural Route Carrier for the US Postal Service in Oakdale. He retired from the Postal Service in 1988 and spent his latter years caring for his wife Betty who suffered from rheumatoid arthritis until her death in 2003. He served on the Morgan County School Board from 1968 until 1974. He was a Mason and a Shriner. He was preceded in death by: his wife, Betty Chapman Summers; parents, Lemmie and Zella McGill Summers; brothers, Riley, Bob, Wiley, Larry, Lemmie, Jr.; and foster brother, Robert McDaniel; sisters, Sue Davis, Edith Shelton, and Linda Summers. Survivors include: daughter, Karen and Steve Kittrell of Oakdale; grandsons, Chris and wife Tami, Kno xville, Jason and wife Robin, Oakdale, and Josh of Harriman; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Madeline, Sydney, and Darren; sisters, Anita Weber, Mt. Airy, Maryland, Ollie Monger and husband Herb of Silver Springs, Maryland; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 23, 2005 from 6-8 pm at Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg. Funeral services will follow with Rev. Bill Young officiating. A graveside service with military honors will be held on Thursday, 11 am in Pine Orchard Cemetery.
