From The Oak Ridger 22 Feb 2005 Hazel Asher, 85, a resident of Oak Ridge Terry Lee Dew, 42, of Clinton, Corine Lenora Dodd Duncan, 84, of Claxton, Everette "Lynn" Elkins, 61, of Clinton, Hazel Asher, 85, a resident of Oak Ridge for 54 years, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005. Mrs. Asher was born on Nov. 5, 1919, in Alabama, the daughter of James Kile and Eunice Mitchell Kile, both deceased. She was a graduate of Birmingham Southern College and worked for a number of years for the Department of Energy as an editor and a publications manager. Mrs. Asher was member of the Highland View Church of Christ. Mrs. Asher was preceded in death by her first husband, J.D. Brown, in 1971, and by her second husband, S. Earl Asher, in 1990. She lived for the past two years at The Continuum Courtyards of Oak Ridge. Mrs. Asher is survived by two daughters, Jan Brown Bailey (Rex L.) of Lexington, Ky., and Judi Brown Whitson of Knoxville; two sons, Noel D. Brown (Martha B.) of Charlotte, N.C., and Derek M. Brown (Faye) of Shelbyville; a brother, James A. (Randy) Kile, and a sister, Jeanne Kile Miller, all of Birmingham, Ala. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Erin Bailey Coleman Tuttle (Jason) and Mary Elizabeth Bailey Baker (Ed), both of Lexington, Ky., Kristen Bailey Jensen (Gary) of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, Alan H. Bailey (Julie) of Denver, Colo., H. Stephen Whitson (Shannon) and Susan Whitson Hodges (Michael), both of Knoxville, and Christopher Brown of Shelbyville. Mrs. Asher's 10 great-grandchildren are Kendall Coleman, Kate Coleman, Emma Coleman, Jack Tuttle, and Lauren Baker, all of Lexington; Bailey Jensen and Claire Jensen of Cape Elizabeth, Maine; Ryann Whitson and Harrison Whitson of Knoxville; and Grace Bailey of Denver, Colo. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005, at Weatherford Mortuary with Curtis McClane, minister of Highland View Church of Christ, officiating. The burial will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday at the mortuary. Mr. Dew was a press operator at Carton Service in Norris. He was a Baptist. In addition to his parents, Jesse "Boots" and Loretta Dew of Heiskell, Mr. Dew is survived by his wife, Annette Dew, and his son, Travis Dew, both of Clinton; his daughter, Grace Villasana and her husband, Victor, of Maryville; his mother-in-law, Crinnie Maples of Pattsonburg, Mo.; two brothers, Darrell Dew, and Steven Dew and his wife, Julia, all of Heiskell; his sister, Connie Hughes and her husband, Billy, of Heiskell; his grandson, Brandon Villasana; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005, in the chapel at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Calvin Headrick and the Rev. Don Ward officiating. Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23, at Grandview Memorial Garden in Clinton. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Corine Lenora Dodd Duncan, 84, of Claxton, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005, at her home. She was a long-standing member of Edgemoor Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Henry and Lenora Dodd, Mrs. Duncan was preceded in death by her husband, William Paul Duncan, and a sister, Mabel Ann Dodd. She is survived by her three sons, Michael Paul Duncan, Steven Wayne Duncan and wife, Donna, and Thomas Neal Duncan and wife, Aspascia; two daughters, Sylvia Lenora Davis and husband, James W., and Mary Elaine Frame and husband, Mike; a sister, Leona Duke of Manchester; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005, in the chapel of Woodhaven Funeral Home in Claxton with the Rev. Michael Petty officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodhaven Memorial Gardens. The Duncan family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, at the funeral home. Everette "Lynn" Elkins, 61, of Clinton, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005, at Morning Pointe Assisted Living in Clinton. He was a member of Hillvale Baptist Church and was employed at International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local No. 760 as an electrician in Knoxville. Mr. Elkins was preceded in death by his father, Everette Elkins, and his sister, Patricia Elkins. He is survived by his mother, Mary E. Elkins of Clinton; his son Joe and wife, Tana Elkins, of Clinton; two grandchildren, Chase and Lea Elkins; and several cousins. The graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005, at Hillvale Baptist Church Cemetery.
