ETHEL HELEN - age 93 of Wartburg, HOWELL, PEGGY - 82 of Oak Ridge RHEA, HUGH "REX" - age 73 of Clinton, SHARP, LEON - age 82 of Maryville, TAYLOR, EDITH (LIZ) - age 78 of Harriman, YARBOROUGH, CHRISTOPHER SCOTT - age 37 PHILLIPS, OLIVER KING "K.O." - age 77 of Knoxville, passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2005 at St. Mary's Medical Center. He was a mason and member of the Charles McKinney Lodge #433. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He was owner and operator of the Red and White Market. Preceded in death by parents, Adam and Tennie Phillips; brothers, Adam Jr. and Paul; sister, Mary. Survived by loving wife of 56 years, Jo Phillips; daughters and sons-in- law, Sandy and Dan Scarbrough, Louie Manning, and Terri and Wade Carlin; grandchildren, Sean and Nikki Scarbrough, Kristi Manning Thomas, Brad Carlin, and Kelly Carlin Buhl; great-grandchildren, Jacob McCain and Leah Phillips; his dog and faithful friend, Beamer. Family and friends will meet at 11:15 a.m. Friday at the Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery for an 11:30 a.m. graveside service. Chaplain Paul Trumpore of the Knoxville Fire Dept officiating. Grandchildren will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Weaver Funeral Home. FREYTAG, MS. ETHEL HELEN - age 93 of Wartburg, passed away quietly at the Lifecare Center of Morgan County on February 15, 2005 after a brief illness. She was preceded in death by: her parents, Albert L. and Maude N. Freytag; brothers, Fred, Jack, Albert Jr., Maxwell, Kenneth, William and Leon Freytag; sister, Marjorie Dean Redmon. She is survived by: a host of nieces and nephews. Affectionately known as "Miss Ethel," she was a lifelong resident of Morgan County and was a descendant of one of the earliest settling families. She was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church in Wartburg. Miss Ethel dedicated her life to researching the history of Morgan County. She was a published author, revered local historian, and a devoted teacher of more than 40 years. The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the staff of Lifecare Center of Morgan County for being such loving caretakers to Miss Ethel during her time there. The family will receive friends Friday, Feburary 18, 2005 from 6-8 pm at Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg. Funeral services will follow with Bro. Tom Mooty officiating. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, 11 am in Wartburg City Cemetery. HOWELL, PEGGY - 82 of Oak Ridge passed away on February 16, 2005. Member of Royce Baptist Church Outreach Ministry. She was born in Ravensford, NC on September 15, 1922 to parents Robert V. Howell and Polly Renfro Howell. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Howell was preceded in death by: brothers, Lattie Howell, George Howell, Cecil Howell, and Ed Howell; sister, Ada Stone. Mrs. Howell moved to Oak Ridge in the early 1950's and worked in The Cloth Shop in Downtown Oak Ridge. She later worked at Clinch River Breeder Reactor until her retirement in 1984. Among her survivors are: sister, Vivian Crisp; son, Terry C. Howell and his wife, Martha; their sons, Robert E. Howell, Elliott C. Howell and Jacob M Martin and his wife, Lichelle; great- grandson, Cole. Mrs. Howell is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Local nephew, Robert Stone and wife, Sheila, nieces, Doris Higdon and husband, Charles. Geniveve Harber and Virginia Lee Tokes were especially close to her. Mrs. Howell enjoyed taking care of her family, because, to her, family came first. A graveside service will be held on Friday, 1 pm at Anderson Memorial Gardens with Rev. Rick Miller officiating. Rex was a member and deacon of Blowing Springs Baptist Church, and also served as choir director for 50 years. He was a veteran of the United States Army during the Korean War, and was born January 5, 1932 in Anderson County. He is preceded in death by parents, Jesse Bert & Thelma McDonald Rhea. Survivors: wife of 47 1/2 years, Wanda Rhea of Clinton; sons and daughters-in-law; Michael Rex Rhea of Clinton, Jeffrey & wife, Karen Rhea of Louisville, Russell & wife, Kathy Rhea of Clinton; grandchildren, Brittany Rhea of Clinton, Cody Rhea of Clinton, Chelsea Rhea of Clinton; brothers, Roger & wife, Saundra Rhea of Clinton, Douglas & wife, Wanda Rhea of Clinton; several nieces and nephews. SHARP, LEON - age 82 of Maryville, died Tuesday, February 15, 2005 at Maryville Health Care Center. He was a native of Lake City, TN and a Veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II. He was a member of Broadway Baptist Church and retired from ALCOA after 38 years of service. He was also a member of ALCOA's 25-Year Club. Yarborough; grandmother, Arlene Bridges; and great grandmother, Perry Wells. He is the beloved son of Rita and Bill Yarborough of Oliver Springs. He is also survived by: a loving daughter, Samantha Noelle Yarborough of Oak Ridge. In addition to his daughter, he is survived by: two sisters, Terri Cates of Knoxville and Karen Fugate of Oak Ridge; grandmother, Minnie Yarborough of Oliver Springs; grandparents, Trent and Bertha Bridges of Clinton; as well as many other nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
